A Jack Ryan spinoff starring Michael Peña is reportedly being eyed by Amazon. The action series, based on characters from Tom Clancy's fictional universe, premiered on Prime Video back in 2018 and follows the titular CIA analyst, played by John Krasinski, as he gets pulled from his desk job and thrown into the field to face political warfare and corruption. It was announced in October that Peña would appear in Jack Ryan, though details surrounding his role were not revealed, other than that he would be featured in multiple episodes. The show's cast over its two completed seasons has included Wendell Pierce, Abbie Cornish, Noomi Rapace, Jovan Adepo, and Michael Kelly, and while season 3 has yet to be released, season 4 was greenlit back when Peña was added.

Now, Deadline is reporting that a potential spinoff focusing on Peña's character is being eyed, as the series is set to conclude following season 4. The actor will portray Domingo Chavez, a member of the CIA who has appeared in a number of Clancy's novels, going on several missions and acting as the executive officer of Rainbow Six. He will be introduced in the Jack Ryan season 3 finale before becoming a regular in season 4.

Turning to Jack Ryan season 3, Peña will join new showrunner Paul Scheuring, and other casting additions in Betty Gabriel and James Cosmo. Peña can certainly continue the franchise, having demonstrated his range in works such as End of Watch, American Hustle, the Ant-Man films, and Narcos: Mexico. Fans can catch him in the upcoming Secret Headquarters, and can look forward to seeing him play Domingo Chavez when Jack Ryan returns to Prime Video.
