New reports indicate that Amazon’s Jack Ryan series will end after season 4. Following the adventures of its titular former Marine turned CIA analyst, Jack Ryan is based on characters that first appeared in novels penned by best-selling thriller author Tom Clancy. Currently portrayed by actor John Krasinski (who also serves as executive producer on Jack Ryan), the role has previously been brought to life on screen by the likes of Alec Baldwin, Harrison Ford, Ben Affleck and Chris Pine. Joining Krasinski is Wendell Pierce as James Greer, Ryan’s boss and CIA station chief.

Making its original season 1 streaming debut in 2018, plans for Jack Ryan season 3 were officially revealed in February 2019 ahead of season 2's release date. Similarly, Amazon also announced that Jack Ryan was renewed for a season 4 in October last year, ahead of the season 3 premiere. Now Deadline is reporting that audiences should not expect any further season announcements to come, and that Jack Ryan season 4 will likely be the show's last installment.

While this is undoubtedly disappointing news for Jack Ryan viewers, they can still rest easy knowing they still have two more seasons left ahead of them. While filming for Jack Ryan season 4 has already begun, with an expected release date of sometime in 2023, Amazon is still yet to confirm an official release date for Jack Ryan season 3. There are also reports that the studio may be looking to establish potential spin-offs in the future, perhaps led by Michael Peña as another character from the Jack Ryan books, Ding Chavez. In the meantime, fans will likely be keeping an eager eye out for Jack Ryan’s imminent season 3 release date announcement as Krasinki's hero story begins its final leg.
