Amazon Prime has prepared an action-packed teaser trailer for season 2 of Tom Clancy’s Jack Ryan, which sees its title character embroiled in another adventure, this time in South America. 2018 saw the series premiere on the streaming service in late summer, which seemingly worked out in the show’s favor as it provided the perfect excuse for subscribers to sit at home and binge the eight-episode season, recounting the rise of John Krasinski’s Ryan within the CIA, in response to a terrorist threat.

The series has proved popular for Amazon, which not only renewed Jack Ryan for a second season before the series premiere, but also ordered season 3 this past February. In other words, it would seem as though the television side of Jeff Bezos’s friendly neighborhood bookseller definitely wants to be in business with Krasinski and series creators Graham Roland and Carlton Cuse for the foreseeable future. That makes sense, given Krasinski’s recent turn as a horror director with the surprise hit A Quiet Place (and its upcoming sequel), not to mention Cuse’s involvement in successful TV series, like Lost and Bates Motel.

Season 2 of the series will take Jack on an all-new adventure, it seems, as the series shifts its focus from the Middle East to South America. Though there’s absolutely zero dialogue explaining the circumstances of Jack’s latest mission, it’s clear the teaser trailer is selling season 2 on spectacle first, and story second. Season 1 of Jack Ryan didn’t skimp on the spectacle either, so it makes sense that the follow-up would want to try and outdo its predecessor. While this is just a teaser, and therefore is comprised of the best-looking microsecond snippets of the new season, it does nevertheless appear as though this new adventure will ramp up the action considerably. In an effort to help with that, the series has brought in Noomi Rapace as Harriet ‘Harry’ Baumann, seemingly to make life a little easier for Jack as things inevitably heat up around him.

From the look of it, it would seem Jack Ryan season 2 will be borrowing at least somewhat from Clear and Present Danger, which was also the second film in the Jack Ryan franchise when it was headed-up by Harrison Ford. How much or how little the new season adheres to that storyline remains to be seen, but it certainly looks as though Amazon is pulling out all the stops for round two of its action series.
