Jack Black wants to play either Kingpin or the Thing in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Black is most known for movies like School of Rock and King Kong or for his role in the band Tenacious D, but he is currently promoting his new film Jumanji: The Next Level.

Superhero fans are no stranger to the characters Kingpin and the Thing. Kingpin is often an enemy of Spider-Man and Daredevil, while the Thing is one of the four members in the Fantastic Four. Kingpin has appeared on the big and small screens before with Kingpin being played by Michael Clarke Duncan in the 2003 Daredevil movie and by Vincent D'Onofrio in the 2015 Daredevil Netflix series. The Thing, on the other hand, has stayed mostly in movies, with Michael Chiklis playing the character in Fantastic Four and Fantastic Four: Rise of the Silver Surfer, with Jamie Bell taking on the role 10 years later in the critically panned Fantastic Four movie. Both Kingpin and the Thing are well-known characters, and Black wants to play one of them.

In our interview with Black about Jumanji: The Next Level, Black briefly talked about taking on a role in the MCU. We told Black that we hoped to one day seem him in the MCU and asked him if he had a character he would like to play, to which he responded, "No. No one’s coming to mind. Oh, it’d be fun to play like an evil dude, like the Kingpin. Yeah. I don’t know. Maybe the Thing? It’d be rad to be that rock dude from the Fantastic Four."

Fantastic Four The Thing

Neither Kingpin nor the Thing are currently a part of the MCU, but both could potentially have roles in future movies. Marvel confirmed at San Diego Comic-Con that they were developing a Fantastic Foumovie for the MCU, and some people have already theorized that the superhero team are the ones who bought Stark Tower. Kingpin on the other hand may not be introduced for a while. Disney has to wait two years from the time Daredevil was canceled to use characters from the show, meaning Disney can't even start developing a Daredevil movie until November 2020.

Black is mostly known for his comedic roles, but that background hasn't stopped other actors from joining the MCU in the past. That being said, fans might not be too pleased to see Black take on the role of Kingpin since he is such a serious character. The Thing is a bit more lighthearted, so fans might be a little more receptive to him playing a member of the Fantastic Four. That being said, Black was likely just joking rather than actively pursuing one of the characters.
