iZombie, The CW's irreverent take on the zombie genre, returns to the small screen next month for season 3. After the first two seasons aired almost back to back in 2015 and 2016, it's now been almost a year since Liv (Rose McIver) and her friends have been on TV, and there are plenty of questions to be answered. Last month, the network announced an April air date for season 3, followed by the release of a new poster teasing the zombie revolution in anticipation of the April premiere.

Now, fans are treated to a teaser trailer for the upcoming sophmore season of this zom-com, which brings Team Z back to TV. The trailer, is only eight seconds long, and begins and ends with a reminder of the April 4 air date.

In the teaser, you can hear Vivian Stoll's (Andrea Savage) voice asking "What happens when the humans learn that there's contagion, zombies?", as well as Clive Babineaux (Malcolm Goodwin) talking about being kept out of the loop. The title card at the halfway point reads "Team Z is Back". At one point, you can also briefly see Liv and her friends in what looks like riot gear, crouching behind a truck.

Over the first two seasons, it was slowly discovered how many zombies there are in the world, as Liv discovers that far from being alone, there are whole networks and businesses devoted to the zombie population. Now, in season 3, it looks like the zombie/human conflict is really going to come to a head, and this trailer (with its emphasis on humans finding out and being kept out of the loop) continues to focus on that aspect of the show.

It will be interesting to see how iZombie keeps things fresh as they focus more and more on the larger story arc in season 3, and veer away from too much of a reliance on the procedural format that defined season 1. While this trailer doesn't provide too much in the way of new information (of course Team Z is back), it's still great to get a little taste of things to come, especially after having waited so long between seasons 2 and 3. It should make for a fun arc to see how this plays out, and whether that long gap is going to be too difficult for the ratings to overcome.
