Here's Sean Comb's It's Always Sunny In Philadelphia's unconventional Dr. Jinx explained. For a show that's so unrelentingly dark and taboo-breaking, It's Always Sunny In Philadelphia is still one of the most successful live-action sitcoms of all time. It debuted in 2005 and has run for an unbelievable fourteen seasons, with no signs of stopping. The show revolves around the Paddy's Pub gang - consisting of Dee, Dennis, Frank, Mac, and Charlie - who are the biggest bunch of selfish, cruel and detestable human beings around.

Despite, or perhaps because of that, they're what makes It's Always Sunny In Philadelphia so hilarious. Part of the reason the show works is that the joke is mostly on them, as their evil schemes usually backfire in karmic ways. It also helps that the cast have great comic chemistry, and unlike many other long-running sitcoms, it still finds new ways to makes viewers laugh - while also horrifying them.

It's Always Sunny In Philadelphia has featured some impressive guest stars over the years, including Alexandra Daddario,

Guillermo del Toro (Pacific Rim), and Judy Greer. Sean Combs was added to that list thanks to his guest appearance as the mysterious Dr. Jinx during the season 8 episode "Charlie's Mom Has Cancer." After Charlie's mother reveals she has lung cancer, Dennis, Mac, and Charlie visit Dr. Jinx's garage to examine his claim he can cure Mrs. Kelly for $4200.

The gang is naturally skeptical, but despite claiming he can cure Mac's rash with a special spray from Mother Earth and "curing" Dennis' lack of emotions with a song, they leave. It's Always Sunny In Philadelphia then finds the gang deciding to raise the money to pay Dr. Jinx after Mac's rash does clear up, so they hold a beef and beer fundraiser at their bar. Dr. Jinx also shows up to play some tunes, but the ruse is blown when Charlie's mother confesses she doesn't really have lung cancer.

She accidentally knocked over a statue at church and was looking to raise money to fix it; it also turns out Dr. Jinx is the church gardener. It's Always Sunny In Philadelphia "Charlie's Mom Has Cancer" also features a subplot where Dee insults Frank by claiming he's slipping in his old age, and he becomes convinced his late wife is secretly alive. The show ends with Dee and Dennis - who has been struggling to "knock some emotions loose" - digging up their mother's grave to find buried money, only to be confronted with their mother's decayed body. It turns out to be a cruel practical joke on Frank's part for Dee's insult, while a crying Dennis realizes he "feels" too much.
