When Dee gets a gig working as a background extra in the new M. Night Shyamalan movie in season 5’s “Mac and Charlie Write a Movie,” Mac and Charlie see it as an opportunity to break into Hollywood with their own screenplay.

They come up with an action movie premise about a scientist named Dolph Lundgren (played by Dolph Lundgren) who can smell crimes before they take place.

Mac’s Mom Burns Her House Down (Season 6, Episode 6)

When Mac’s mom burns her house down with a cigarette, Dennis refuses to let her move into his and Mac’s apartment. So, Mac and Charlie try to create a Golden Girls scenario with their moms in the hope that they’ll move in together.

At first, Mac and Charlie’s moms are at each other’s throats and Mac and Charlie have to do a ton of legwork to even get them to talk to one another, but they eventually bond over their shared prejudices.

Gun Fever Too: Still Hot (Season 9, Episode 2)

The Gang reopens the gun issue in season 9’s “Gun Fever Too: Still Hot.” While Dennis and Dee are in favor of tighter gun control, Mac and Charlie want to go the other way: arm every student in every high school so they can protect themselves from school shooters.

Mac and Charlie assemble the toughest kids they can find in the hopes of training a kind of Suicide Squad, but they just end up creating a Hunger Games scenario at Paddy’s.

The Gang Gets Trapped (Season 7, Episode 9)

Season 7’s “The Gang Gets Trapped” offers a meta-commentary on the Always Sunny formula, opening with Dennis and Dee trapped in a closet in the middle of a crazy scheme gone wrong.

Wolf Cola: A Public Relations Nightmare (Season 12, Episode 4)

Frank’s shell corporation Frank’s Fluids enters a PR firestorm when its product Wolf Cola becomes the official drink of a terrorist organization in season 12’s “Wolf Cola: A Public Relations Nightmare.”

This storyline reveals that Frank has been selling Mac and Charlie’s Fight Milk as part of this shell corporation, so they spend the rest of the episode trying to market Fight Milk to UFC fighters cameoing as themselves. As it turns out, Fight Milk is only helpful because it causes enough vomiting and diarrhea for the fighters to make weight.

Mac’s Big Break (Season 6, Episode 4)

In the cold open of season 6’s “Mac’s Big Break,” Mac and Charlie enter a radio contest that earns Mac the chance to take a shot from center ice at the next big hockey game.

The only problem is, Mac doesn’t know how to skate. Charlie does his best to teach him how, but Mac isn’t a fast learner and he only has a couple of days.

A Very Sunny Christmas (Season 6, Episode 13)

Season 6’s “A Very Sunny Christmas” offers a Christmas special in the most Always Sunny way possible. While Dennis and Dee are trying and failing to give Frank his own A Christmas Carol revelation, Mac and Charlie learn the truth about their holiday traditions.

While Dennis and Dee try to get in shape following the wake-up call of Dee’s heart attack in season 4’s “Sweet Dee Has a Heart Attack,” Mac and Charlie try to get insurance by applying for government jobs.

They get positions in the mailroom of a corporate office, but Mac spends his days on the office floor trying to save the company despite his lack of know-how, leaving Charlie to do all the work, which drives him crazy enough to concoct a wild conspiracy about a man named Pepe Silvia.

Mac And Charlie Die (Season 4, Episodes 5/6)

The season 4 two-parter “Mac and Charlie Die” is one of It’s Always Sunny’s greatest episodes. When Mac’s dad is released from prison and Mac and Charlie believe he’s going to kill them, they fake their deaths by destroying Dee’s car and filling it with their teeth.

The Gang catches onto the scheme almost instantly, as Dennis sees Mac watching him from afar and Dee notices they’ve been using her credit card. The only one who doesn’t notice is Frank, whose grief leads him to create a Charlie sex doll.
