In a clip that could only be truly at home on Josef Fares’ Twitter feed, the It Takes Two director shows off his impressive hip action with a video showcasing some of his mocap work for the game. It Takes Two was first unveiled at the 2020 Game Awards and has since gone on to win over the hearts of many a gamer. Fares not only mocapped in and directed the game, but he also wrote it as well, filling It Takes Two with all sorts of amusing Easter eggs (including his own infamous Oscars rant).

It Takes Two follows the adventures of unhappily married couple Cody and May, as they find themselves trapped inside the bodies of two dolls that were made by their daughter, Rose. To get themselves back to corporal form, the couple must work together to complete multiple tests presented to them by It Takes Two's relationship therapist, Dr. Hakim. Dr. Hakim, however, is not an average councilor. Rather, he is an incredibly passionate and vivacious book; the Book of Love, no less. And, as perhaps should be expected from a fully walking and talking book of love, this particular hard back comes complete with strumming guitars, expressive soliloquies, and surprisingly sensual swaying hips.

It Takes Two’s Book of Love was fully mocapped by none other than the game’s director himself. Josef Fares took on the role of the rhapsodic Dr. Hakim for It Takes Two, and clearly had an absolute blast bringing the character to life. Fares shared a short clip of himself performing as the Book of Love on his twitter feed. The clip had a specific focus on a very definite area - Fares’ hips. The clip only lasts a brief nine seconds, but in that time, Fares manages to fit in several “hip gyrations” and raise more than a few amused smiles. Naturally, Fares’ followers went wild for this It Takes Two behind the scenes clip, with EA even jumping in to reply with its own Dr. Hakim hip swivel gif.

It Takes Two has exceeded many people’s expectations. Despite having only launched a little over one month ago, the game has already surpassed the impressive one million sales milestone. And, while no exact figures have been released, the game’s developer Hazelight Studios has implied that It Takes Two’s sales are not slowing down but are “still going strong.”

In fact, if the comments on Fares’ twitter post are anything to go by, these sales will possibly increase exponentially. Fares (or more precisely, Fares’ hips) seems to have tempted even more people to dip their toes into the eclectic world of It Takes Two and find out just exactly what sort of relationship advice Dr. Hakim has to offer.
