IT Chapter Two Fan Art Unites Young & Adult Beverly Marsh

IT 2 - Sophia Lillis and Jessica Chastain as Beverly Marsh

A clever piece of IT Chapter Two fan art unites Sophia Lillis and Jessica Chastain as the young and adult versions of Beverly Marsh. Andy Muschietti's new adaptation of the classic Stephen King horror novel emerged as a surprise smash hit in 2017, tapping into audiences' perennial love of horror and the '80s nostalgia of Stranger Things (it even featured one of Stranger Things' main cast members, Finn Wolfhard).

Lillis, who plays the only female member of the self-dubbed "Losers' Club," was launched into the spotlight after her role in IT, and few were surprised when Chastain was cast as the adult version of Lillis' character. IT covered the Losers' Club's first encounter with the terrifying Pennywise the Clown (Bill Skarsgård) as children, and IT Chapter Two will see them return to Derry as adults, 27 years later, to try and defeat the evil once and for all.

We're eagerly anticipating learning more about IT Chapter Two at San Diego Comic-Con this weekend, but while we wait for official promo art, IT super-fan Shaun Watson has put together a clever image edit that unites Lillis and Chastain as Beverly.

This may just be fan art, but it was convincing enough that it was reported by several outlets as being an official promo image - especially since it was shared on social media by Chastain herself. The original photo of Lillis leaning over the table was taken by Hibbard Nash as part of a profile on the young actress for Rogue Magazine. Watson also made a popular series of mashups featuring the child and adult actors of the Losers' Club:

As you can see in the above image, the adult members of the Losers' Club have now all been cast, with James McAvoy as Bill, Bill Hader as Richie, Jay Ryan as Ben, James Ransone as Eddie, Andy Bean as Stanley, and Isaiah Mustafa as Mike. The sequel began filming last month for a fall 2019 release, and McAvoy recently offered a behind-the-scenes look at the new cast in a series of Polaroids.

A somewhat surprising piece of casting was Teach Grant as the adult version of Henry Bowers, the vicious bully who tormented the Losers' Club was manipulated by Pennywise into killing his father. We last saw Henry falling head-first a very long way down a well, which seems like it would surely have killed him - but perhaps he floated back up.

Given that IT Chapter Two has only been filming for a few weeks, it's unlikely that we'll get to see a full trailer at Comic-Con - especially since it's well over a year before the movie hits theaters. However, it will be featured as part of New Line Cinema's ScareDiego preview night, so perhaps there is something special in store for attendees.
