Isn't It Romantic stars Rebel Wilson, Adam DeVine and Liam Hemsworth in a funny take on classic romantic comedies - but does it have an end-credits scene that moviegoers need to stick around for? Rom-coms are experiencing somewhat of a revival in Hollywood at the moment thanks to the success of Warner Bros' Crazy Rich Asians as well as Netflix's Set It Up and To All the Boys I've Loved Before. Now, Warners returns this Valentine's Day season with another new rom-com in the form of Isn't It Romantic.
Directed by Todd Strauss-Schulson from a script by Erin Cardillo, Dana Fox and Katie Silberman, Isn't It Romantic tells the story of a woman, Natalie (Wilson), who hits her head while escaping a mugging and wakes up in an alternate, romantic comedy world. In an attempt to escape the idealized, PG-13 universe, Natalie tries to enlist the help of her friend Josh (DeVine) and tries to make Blake (Hemsworth) fall in love with her. However, getting to the end of this rom-com won't be quite that easy.
Now, Isn't It Romantic is hitting theaters just in time for Valentine's Day and viewers may be wondering whether they need to stick around until the very end for an extra scene. Isn't It Romantic does NOT have a post-credits scene, but it does have a delightful sequence that plays during the first portion of the credits.
Without giving too much away about the film's ending, the cast gets together and has some fun (with some cool dance moves) for a sequence that can be viewed and enjoyed during the first half of the film's credits. While it's always worth it to watch a movie's credits to get an idea of who was involved in the making of that film, those who enjoyed Isn't It Romantic will want to stick around during at least the first part of the credits to watch this additional fun sequence. It doesn't necessarily add anything to the plot of the movie, it's just an extra bit of fun for viewers.
Since Isn't It Romantic doesn't have a post-credits scene, the movie largely works as a standalone film, which is rare in Hollywood - even in the romantic comedy genre. If a movie is a success, the studio typically aims to continue that success with a sequel or spinoff. Sequels to both Crazy Rich Asians and To All the Boys I've Loved Before have been confirmed, and it was even reported that Netflix was considering a Set It Up sequel - despite the fact the movie was decidedly standalone. So although Isn't It Romantic doesn't explicitly set up a sequel, if the movie is successful enough, it still may receive a followup. But whether it actually is a success at the box office remains to be seen. For now, all moviegoers need to know is that Isn't It Romantic doesn't have a post-credits scene, just a fun sequence during the first part of the credits.
