Isle of Dogs Character Guide: Who's Who in the Amazing Cast

Isle of Dogs Cast and Characters

Wes Anderson's upcoming film Isle of Dogs has an incredible cast, including some impressive A-listers as well as the "usual suspects" that often appear in Anderson's films. But who's who in this amazing set? We break it down.

Isle of Dogs follows a pack of alpha dogs after an outbreak of "canine flu" forces all dogs to be quarantined on the remote Trash Island. When Atari Kobayashi, a human boy, travels to the island to rescue his pet Spot, the alphas decide to help him find his four-legged friend. Early reviews have been largely positive, praising the film's animation and Anderson's patently creative and whimsical story.

Anderson's Isle of Dogs resembles the traditionally unconventional style of Anderson's visually appealing and quirky films. Fantastic Mr. Fox, his only other stop-motion film, was a critical and award-winning success, and it seems that Isle of Dogs may follow in its footsteps.

Scarlett Johansson lends her voice to Nutmeg, a fashionable former show dog that now lives on the Isle of Dogs. Edward Norton, another frequent Anderson collaborator, returns for Isle of Dogs after appearing in both Moonrise Kingdom and The Grand Budapest Hotel. Norton will voice Rex, the leader of the alpha dogs. Rex is a house dog who is anxious to leave Trash Island and return to his master.
