The upcoming Isle of the Dead series is a spinoff of AMC's massively popular zombie show The Walking Dead, which is entering the last part of its final season this October. The Walking Dead first premiered in 2010 and has since become a major franchise, with two spinoff series currently running and at least four more in the works. The newest spinoff series, Tales of the Walking Dead, will hit AMC on August 14, 2022.In March of 2022, AMC announced Isle of the Dead, a spinoff series that follows fan-favorite characters Maggie Rhee (Lauren Cohen) and Negan (Jeffrey Dean Morgan) as they traverse Manhattan. The series is set to be six episodes long and premiere sometime in 2023. While some fans have criticized AMC for 'spoiling' Maggie and Negan's Walking Dead fates, as the main series can't kill them off now that they've been confirmed for another series, Isle of the Dead is one of The Walking Dead's most highly anticipated spinoffs.Related: The Walking Dead Season 11 Being The End Is A LieIn a behind-the-scenes video posted to Twitter by @jessxo199, Cohen and Morgan can be seen filming a scene for Isle of the Dead. In one of The Walking Dead's most infamous moments, Negan beat Maggie's husband Glenn to death in front of her during the season 7 premiere. Pregnant at the time, Maggie would go on to give birth to her and Glenn's baby, Hershel, who Maggie subsequently had to raise alone. Season 11 saw both Maggie and Hershel confronting Negan, nearly killing him several times to avenge Glenn's death.Though Maggie and Negan may be starring in the spinoff series together, it's no surprise that the first glimpse fans get of their dynamic is a volatile one. While Maggie and Negan came to a thin truce during season 11 of The Walking Dead, tensions still run high between them in the spinoff series. With filming for Isle of the Dead well underway, fans will only have to wait another year to see whether or not Maggie and Negan can come to an understanding with each other or if one of them will finally snap.Next: What The Walking Dead's Future Looks Like After Comic-Con 2022Source: @jessxo199/Twitter
