At the beginning of the episode, Shiv receives a call from her doctor, with the doctor mentioning several symptoms of pregnancy as well as telling Shiv to schedule a 20-week checkup. Later in the episode, Shiv has a conversation with Tom about Logan's grandkids, hinting that more grandkids may be coming. Shiv even suddenly falls down near the end of season 4, episode 4, with this possibly being due to the dizziness and sickness that commonly comes as a product of pregnancy.
Why Shiv's Pregnancy Storyline Would Be The Perfect Way To End Succession
Shiv's pregnancy storyline may seem sudden, but it is actually the perfect way to end Succession. Having Shiv give birth in the same season that Logan died is a very clever way of tying things up, showing the cyclical damage that the Roy family has fallen prey to. It would also add another layer of emotion to Shiv's character, adding to the stress that comes with her position at Waystar as well as the death of her father.
Shiv's pregnancy could also further develop her relationship with Tom - something that has been on the rocks since Tom's betrayal in the season 3 finale. Whether Shiv's child is Tom's or someone else's, the idea of Shiv having a baby would impact Tom, possibly pulling him away from his villainous path. Shiv's pregnancy would change everything in Succession season 4, adding an innocent newborn to the cruel and callous world of the Roys.
