Iris Caldwell, known as the “virgin bride” from Married at First Sight season 9, appears to be pursuing an acting career. She was recently spotted playing the role of Jennifer in the 2022 Netflix holiday movie Falling for Christmas, starring Lindsay Lohan. Although her role in the film is minor, it is just one of the acting and modeling pursuits that Iris has engaged in since she appeared on MAFS.
When fans spotted her in Falling for Christmas, Iris was happy to confirm their suspicions on Instagram, where she posted, “Yep that was me on Netflix!” She stated that she had four lines in the movie, and that working with Lindsay Lohan was a blessing. She also alluded to the fact that she wants to be a big star beyond Married at First Sight, by writing, “Hey who knows when I can repost this years from now and say look where we started.” In the Netflix movie, Iris plays Jennifer, a woman who attends a fundraiser with her husband on Christmas Eve. She thanks the owner of the ski lodge (where the fundraiser is held) for making their stay so special. Basically, that’s it. However, Iris is proud of her role, and stated on Instagram, “God makes no mistakes and I delivered them 4 lines lol.”
Did Iris Go on MAFS to Boost Her Career?
Iris may have been bitten by the fame bug since she was matched by MAFS experts with coach/mentor, Keith Manley. Although their marriage did not work out, Iris has been living her best life since then. The popular reality icon has been working as a model, actress, fashion designer and influencer. In fact, a desire for fame may be one of the reasons why Iris agreed to be on Married at First Sight in the first place, since she was already an aspiring model before she was on the show. Reality shows are excellent launching pads for entertainment and influencing careers, so that might explain why Iris was willing to marry a complete stranger, sight unseen.
Iris, who wore her virginity like a badge of honor, was a very divisive cast member when she appeared on Married at First Sight season 9 in 2019. Some fans appreciated her commitment to remaining a virgin, and admired the strength of her faith. Others thought that she was extremely childlike, and sometimes ridiculous. Iris particularly frustrated fans when her husband asked her to share something personal about herself, and all she could come up with was being on the school bus as a kid. The vehicle hit a bump, and made her accidentally swallow a quarter. The glamorous Iris came across as a bit of an enigma because she looked like a model (and was a model), but often appeared awkward and naïve. The dichotomy of her confidence and innocence threw some viewers off.
While she might not be a famous movie star yet, Iris’ stint on Married at First Sight could be a stepping stone to a successful career in entertainment. Whether that was her motivation for appearing on the show is hard to say. If her marriage with Keith had worked out, she might have considered that to be the icing on the cake. Regardless, it is clear that Iris Caldwell wants to be a household name.
