Is it the right time for blaxploitation movies to come back? Should they come back at all? The world is about to get answers to those questions... and more. Queen Latifah is reportedly going to produce a remake of the 1974 film "Truck Turner," in which Isaac Hayes plays a football player-turned-bounty hunter who finds himself on the run from a ruthless gang of pimps. (I hate it when that happens to me.) Latifah is also reportedly interested in starring in the movie, putting her in the same "producers who must also star in every single thing they produce" category as Drew Barrymore. But that's another rant entirely...
Of all the movies that Hollywood could remake, why this one? It's not like it hasn't been tried before. Remember when Shaft was remade in 2000? It did some fairly decent box office, but it certainly didn't break any records. If it's done with a tongue-firmly-in-cheek style, it might just be a bad mutha... shut yo mouth! (Sorry, I couldn't resist.)
