The cast for the Iron Man spin-off Marvel Cinematic Universe show Ironheart is expanding with the addition of Hamilton star Anthony Ramos. Created by Brian Michael Bendis and Mike Deodato, Riri Williams made her Marvel Comics debut in 2016 as an engineering student who designs a suit of armor similar to that of Tony Stark's Iron Man armor. After initially using the suit to fight crime, she attracts the attention of Stark and earns his endorsement to become a superheroine.

Development on Ironheart was first announced during the 2020 Disney Investor Day in which Dominique Thorne had been cast to star in the titular role, which she would first bring to life in Black Panther: Wakanda Forever. After a few months of searching, Marvel would tap Snowpiercer alum Chinaka Hodge to sere as the head writer for the six-episode series. As production nears a start for Ironheart, the series is growing in an exciting new direction.

Deadline has brought word that In the Heights and Hamilton star Anthony Ramos has been cast for the Iron Man spin-off MCU series Ironheart. Sources report that the Emmy and Golden Globe nominee is set for a key role in the series that is being kept a secret. Word is also swirling that Ramos' character will be introduced in a similar vein to Jonathan Majors' Kang the Conqueror in Loki, with plans to carry his character over into future Marvel projects.

Ramos' Ironheart casting marks the latest step in his recent rise to stardom in Hollywood that first kicked off with Spike Lee's She's Gotta Have It series adaptation. Following positive reviews with supporting turns in A Star Is Born and Godzilla: King of the Monsters, Ramos has further built his filmography with the recorded film version of Lin-Manuel Miranda's Hamilton and the critically acclaimed movie adaptation of In The Heights and HBO's In Treatment revival. His joining Ironheart also serves as a new venture into the world of franchise filmmaking for the young star, who recently concluded production on Transformers: Rise of the Beasts.

One of the more interesting takeaways from Ramos joining Ironheart is the reports that his character will continue into future MCU projects in a similar manner to Jonathan Majors' Kang the Conqueror. Following Thanos' defeat in Avengers: Endgame, the MCU has been left with a big gap for an overarching villain to threaten the newer heroes, of which Kang has been reported to take over, though should Ramos prove to be introduced as a villain in the new Disney+ series, it would begin to fill that void. Only time will tell what the future holds for Ramos in the MCU as development continues on Ironheart in the lead up to its April filming start.
