Although they are a rarity in today's world, Gotham City has made a name for itself by dotting its skies with blimps. But apparently, Iron Man is going to do the same for New York, thereby ripping off DC's most famous city.

Throughout the comics and in live action and animated adaptations, Gotham City has repeatedly been known to feature blimps traveling all around. They don't even need to be part of the story per se. A blimp was used as a major plot device in the season three finale of Batwoman. Batman even has a minor and comical villain by the name of Colonel Blimp.

New York, on the other hand, isn't particularly known for blimps. Certainly, they are known for making the odd appearance above a stadium for a baseball or football game, but blimps don't typically travel above Manhattan, even if the Empire State Building was originally designed to have a zeppelin dock at the top of it. Apparently, Iron Man hopes to change that. In a preview image of Captain America: Sentinel of Liberty, which will be written by Jackson Lanzing and Collin Kelly with art by Carmen Carnero, several blimps with the Stark Unlimited logo are seen flying through the streets. Jackson Lanzing even shared it on his Twitter account.

It's unclear exactly what part the blimps were play in the story, if any. The art features Captain America and the Winter Soldier overlooking a 4th of July parade with Uncle Sam balloons. It's certainly possible that the blimps are just part of the parade, but either way, the fact Tony Stark used the odd vehicles as a form of advertising says a lot about the lengths the industrialist will go to promote his name and brand.

Certainly, even if blimps were allowed in New York City, there would be no way they would be flying so low that they could be seen in between the buildings. Even in Gotham City art, the blimps are high above the skyscrapers as a form of travel rather than a billboard used to spread the name of a billionaire. It is safe to say fans would never see a blimp with the Wayne Enterprises logo strolling through the streets of Gotham, let alone several during a parade. So while Iron Man has certainly ripped a page out of the Gotham skyline playbook, he is taking it a step further and way beyond anything Gotham City has seen before.
