Spoilers for A.X.E.: Eternals #1 by Marvel ComicsIn a hilarious new moment from this week's A.X.E.: Eternals #1 by Marvel Comics, Iron Man just hit Wolverine with one of his best insults, and it has everything to do with his relationship with Jean Grey. In the comic, Tony Stark discusses the team assembled in their mission inside a Celestial to stop Judgment Day. When referring to Wolverine, Iron Man calls him "Jean Grey's comfort animal," who is around to help the powerful mutant in their deadly mission.

Wolverine and Jean Grey's relationship in the pages of Marvel Comics is somewhat complicated, as while the pair have been together multiple times, a love triangle with Cyclops has made things difficult. Jean Grey has mostly been with Scott Summers, but despite that, Logan has remained fiercely loyal and protective of his fellow mutant, going to great lengths to ensure she's safe, even after transforming into the Dark Phoenix. While Marvel has suggested that Wolverine, Jean Grey, and Cyclops are in a three-way relationship, Logan remains devoted to his longtime love - which just led to an all-time best insult from Iron Man about Wolverine.

In A.X.E.: Eternals #1 by Kieron Gillen, Pasqual Ferry, Matt Hollingsworth, and VC's Clayton Cowles from Marvel Comics, Wolverine and Iron Man are among the heroes that venture inside the Celestial causing Judgment Day in hopes of activating its self-destruct protocol. After Jean Grey uses her powers to take on the Celestial's defensive mechanisms and the Eternals admit they can't fight against their god, Iron Man points out that he understands why the others are there but questions why the ancient heroes are if they can't attack. In doing so, he offers one of his best insults, referring to Wolverine's role as Jean's "comfort animal."

Iron Man's Wolverine Insult Is An All-Time Best For The Hero

Iron Man Wolverine Insult Marvel Comics

Iron Man's insult is one of the best he's ever made, as calling Wolverine "Jean's comfort animal" represents a hilarious truth about Logan's unwavering loyalty to the unpredictable yet super-powerful mutant. While Wolverine is partly on the mission with Iron Man, Eternals, and mutants to act as a weapon if needed, he's also there to be a calming force for Jean Grey should she lose control. So technically, Iron Man's insult is bang-on.

Thankfully for Iron Man, it seems that Wolverine didn't hear the quip about him being Jean Grey's "comfort animal," otherwise, the Celestial might not be the only thing the mutant would try to destroy on the important mission. Ultimately, Iron Man levied an all-time best insult against Wolverine that was a somewhat crude but accurate representation of the X-Men's relationship with Jean Grey.
