Warning! Spoilers for Iron Man #6 below.

Iron Man is about to go head-to-head against one of Marvel's biggest cosmic villains and he'll (very much reluctantly) to get some help in taking on Korvac. In a new preview for Iron Man #5, Tony Stark and Patsy Walker will assemble a team that is one of the strangest ever conceived in Marvel Comics history - and that's not being hyperbolic.

In his current ongoing series, Korvac has built his own cult and has kidnapped longtime Iron Man ally War Machine. Korvac has his sights getting on Galactus' ship and obtaining its power cosmic to become his own God-like figure again. Tony, who's having an existential crisis, and is throwing himself into danger at an even-more alarming rate than usual, is hot on Korvac's tail. To save his friend and stop Korvac from obtaining the massive cosmic power of Galactus, he'll head to space. But before he does that, previews for his next comic show he will be assembling a team of some of Marvel's oldest heroes.

In Iron Man #5 by Christopher Cantwell, Cafu, Frank D'Armata, and VC's Joe Carmagna, Tony seemingly assembles a team to help him on extremely short notice. While the team features solid contributors such as Misty Knight and the Scarlet Spider, it also features the human/demon Gargoyle, who used to work with the Defenders but now owns an Oyster restaurant in the village. Even stranger is the inclusion of Frogman, who's teased as a character with "zero solo titles, action figures, trading cards, real abilities," and is currently a busboy at Gargoyle's restaurant. The original Frogman used his villainous father's frog suit to become a hero with a great leaping ability - although, he might be the weakest hero ever.

It's pretty obvious both Tony and Patsy are desperate for whatever help they need, but this team is as pathetic and it is bizarre. Misty Knight and Scarlet Spider will have to do the heavy lifting because a demonic restaurant owner and a man in a frog suit don't seem like the most helpful heroes, even if they are last-minute call-ups to help against Korvac.

It should be hilarious to see how this team interacts with Korvac and whether they'll go to space with Iron Man. Who knows? This could be the start of the Gargoyle/Frogman team-up that readers never knew they needed. Regardless, Cantwell and Cafu have done excellent work on this series and this issue, despite the weird superteam roster, will surely continue that trend. Iron Man #5 is out next week. Korvac better watch out.
