A handful of Marvel Comics heroes are crossing over with the publisher's classic monster line. One of the grossest transformations happens to be longtime Avenger Iron Man and the swamp monster Man-Thing becoming Iron Man-Thing in a horror-themed variant cover for an upcoming issue of Iron Man.

Marvel announced 11 new variant covers for October titles that feature well-known heroes turning into classic Marvel monsters. Among those covers includes Vampire Hunter Spider-Man for Amazing Spider-Man #50 by Aaron Kuder and Jordie Bellaire, The X-Men coming the Legion of Monsters in a cover for X-Men #13 from Russel Dauterman, and Captain America becoming Cap Wolf in a cover for Captain America #24 by Mirka Andolfo. While the crossovers are just for variant covers, one of the coolest (and grossest) covers is from Mattia De Iulis, as he combined Iron Man and Man-Thing to create a monster known as Iron Man-Thing.

The cover for De Iulis will be featured in Iron Man #2 from Christopher Cantwell, Cafu, and Alex Ross. Man-Thing first appeared in Savage Tales #1 and was created by Stan Lee, Roy Thomas, Gerry Conway, and Gray Morrow. Originally scientist Ted Sallis, he became the monster while working with a group of scientists to recreate Captain America's Super-Soldier Serum. After A.I.M. tries to take him down, Sallis injects himself with the serum, and while on the run he ends up crashing into a swamp. When he emerges, he became a terrifying swamp monster. In De Iulis' cover, it's revealed what happened with Tony Stark (in his Iron Man suit) was transformed into the hulking beast.

Iron Man crossed with Man-Thing is without question the grossest version of the hero put to page (although Tony bonding with his suit would be a close second). Iron Man-Thing wears Tony's broken armor, as it's slimy nose tendrils on his face burst through his iconic mask and has sores and plants growing on his body. Iron Man-Thing still retains the original Man-Thing's bright red eyes but has Iron Man's lights on his armor that make the beast even more alarming. It's like Man-Thing was planted in an Iron Man suit and exploded out of it.

Ultimately, Iron Man-Thing is a gross crossover that turns one of Marvel's most popular characters a literal monster. With the tech of Tony Stark and the powers and looks of Man-Thing, Iron Man-Thing is not someone you want to mess with. If you'd like to pick up the Iron Man-Thing crossover, the new covers will be released in October.
