One of Spider-Man's closest allies, Iron-Man, just confirmed what most Marvel Comics superheroes know: he's a hot mess. In the latest issue of Daredevil, Tony Stark and Peter Parker team up to save Daredevil from a near-death experience. However, when Tony brings her to one of his facilities to help Elektra recover from her injuries, he lets out the truth about everyone's favorite web-slinger - he does a little too much all the time.
Spider-Man is an effective hero in the Marvel Universe for a good reason, as he's fully aware with great power comes great responsibility. But, Peter Parker often bites off more than he can chew, leading to his real-life friendships and relationships suffering the brunt of the damage from his heroic endeavors. Spider-Man is constantly pulled in multiple directions at once and tries to carry the weight of all of his tasks single-handedly. It means Peter's life, both as a hero and out of costume, is often messy.
In Daredevil #33 by Chip Zdarsky, Marco Checchetto, Marcio Menyz, and Clayton Cowles, Iron Man and Spider-Man come to the rescue of Daredevil after she's badly injured following a tussle with Bullseye and his new clones. When she awakens, Tony informs her of what happened, and Elektra wonders why Iron Man isn't out in the field while Spider-Man tends to her wounds. Hilariously, Iron Man fully admits that Spider-Man is a lot of things, "too many things," in fact, but "he's not a healer."
Yes, the man who spends his spare time tinkering on new tech projects thinks Spider-Man has too many things on the go at once. However, Iron Man has got a point. Peter Parker tries to balance life as a hero, inventor, photojournalist, and his life with Mary Jane, and most times, something has to take the backburner. Unfortunately, Spider-Man also has proved to be increasingly unreliable to his fellow heroes, as he ignores emails about get-togethers, ignores Deadpool and Wolverine's calls, and even putting Captain America's emails in his spam folder.
Ultimately, Spider-Man marches to the beat of his own drum, which makes his life a hot mess. Thankfully, Spider-Man has found a way to navigate his life through all the turbulence, jobs, and distractions, but he's become more unreliable to people in his life as time has continued. Nobody said being a superhero was easy, but Iron Man is spot on: Spider-Man does too many things and probably needs to slow down a little bit. Daredevil #33 is in comic book stores now.
