Warning: contains spoilers for Shang-Chi vs. the Marvel Universe #5!

A famous item from Iron Man's past has found its way into the hands of Shang-Chi - and now the Armored Avenger wants his property back. Shang-Chi vs. the Marvel Universe #5, written by Gene Luen Yang with art by Dike Ruan and colors by Tríona Farrell sees the Master of Kung-Fu go up against Tony Stark, who has considerable doubts about Shang-Chi's family after hearing about his exploits and possible criminal activities in the past issues. The suitcase armor theft just happens to be the proverbial last straw.

In Shang-Chi vs the Marvel Universe, Shang-Chi takes over his father's criminal organization, the Five Weapons Society, and vows to turn it into a force for good. Unfortunately, the organization is steeped in tradition, as is his family; their first duty is loyalty to the group, not the individual, no matter his title (in this case, the Supreme Commander). For his part, Shang-Chi continues to make enemies on all sides as he goes up against various superheroes who no longer trust him fully. He's fought Spider-Man, Captain America, Wolverine and the entire Fantastic Four - and now he faces his toughest opponent yet in Iron Man.

The Red Dot Collective meets with Shang-Chi for a covert business deal - they've stumbled upon Iron Man's classic suitcase armor and are looking for a buyer. Shang-Chi, who has fought alongside Iron Man multiple times, recognizes the case and declines. When the Red Dot gang mention they'll take their business elsewhere (perhaps to A.I.M.), Shang-Chi makes the decision to hold the gang until the police can make an arrest...but he decides to take the case for himself. Whether Shang-Chi wanted to hold the case to give to Iron Man later (who smashes through a glass window two pages later), or keep it is anyone's guess.

Longtime fans of Iron Man will notice that this is not the exact suitcase armor that appeared in the comics. In Iron Man's early days, the "suitcase armor" was a simple case that merely contained the collapsible armor. In Iron Man 2, the case was the armor; Iron Man stepped into the case, which formed around him during his first battle with Whiplash. The design in the comics bears striking resemblance to the MCU version, but the functionality is the same as the comics version - the armor is inside the case and not part of the case itself.

Unfortunately, the end of the issue reveals that Iron Man hired the Red Dot Collective to sell the armor to Shang-Chi to see what he would do, and Shang-Chi's nebulous actions proved Iron Man's suspicions. Even his own family is suspicious of Shang-Chi now, and he has precious few friends left. Iron Man's suitcase armor gambit could spell disaster for Shang Chi in the future - since the next issue teases a fight with the powerful Thor.
