Warning! This post contains a PREVIEW for Judgment Day #6In a new preview for Marvel Comics' final issue of Judgment Day, Iron Man leads the charge as the Avengers, X-Men, and Eternals turn the tables on the Celestial being known as the Progenitor. Making a final stand to save the world before its total destruction, Iron Man leads a small team of mutants and Eternals within the massive Celestial itself, hoping to destroy the being from within which Stark himself helped awaken. As such, the new preview reveals the last-ditch attempt by Marvel's heroes before total annihilation.

Having awakened the Celestial in the hopes that it would be able to force the Eternals to end their war with the X-Men, the plan massively backfired with the Progenitor deciding to instead judge the entire world both individually and collectively. Deciding that the world's population was largely unworthy, the Celestial began burning the world, building to the planet's eventual destruction. Considering Tony Stark's major role in the Progenitor's awakening, it makes sense that Iron Man would be on the front lines leading a team to activate the Celestial's self-destruct failsafe before it's too late.

Now, the new preview for Judgment Day #6 from Kieron Gillen, Valerio Schiti, and Ivan Fiorelli sees the Celestial comparing itself to Iron Man, noting their shared roles as engineers and desire for efficiency. Seeking a direct means to destroy the Earth, The Progenitor is mirroring Tony Stark himself who's likewise searching for a direct means of destroying the Celestial. Here are the preview pages and synopsis for the final issue of Marvel's Judgment Day:

The Avengers, Eternals, and X-Men Make Their Last Stand

  • A.X.E: JUDGMENT DAY #6
  • The apocalyptic finale of the event of the year. It's not that nothing will be the same again—it's that unless heroes can find a new way to be heroes, everything will be nothing forever.

Having finally reached the core within the Celestial, it looks as though it will be a race against time between the Progenitor and Iron Man's team of heroes. However, the synopsis teases that the Avengers, X-Men, and Eternals will need to find a new method entirely to save the world. As such, activating a self-destruct seems far too basic and overdone to be the way this massive crossover event ends.

Regardless of how Marvel's heroes save the Earth from the Progenitor, the Celestial's individual judgments have already ensured that many characters have been changed for the long term. Tony Stark in particular found reconciliation with his deceased father, facing many of his own flaws thanks to the Progenitor's cosmic judgment. That being said, here's hoping Iron Man and his allies can kind this "new way" of being heroes. The full Judgment Day #6 will release on October 26th.
