Warning! Spoilers for Iron Cat #1 by Marvel Comics

Seeing Iron Man team up with Black Cat might make for one of Marvel's oddest pairings, but the heroes have a hilarious thing in common leading to their latest team-up: an ex-girlfriend is trying to kill Felicia Hardy. In Iron Cat #1 from Marvel Comics, Felicia tells Tony Stark about her ex-girlfriend becoming the Iron Cat and trying to take her down. Iron Man immediately relates to the situation, telling her, "Oh my god. We do have something in common."

Comic book heroes having evil ex-boyfriends and girlfriends is a fairly common trope, as love and passion have pulled two fighting sides together on many occasions. From Batman and Talia al Ghul to Thor and the Enchantress to Captain America and Diamondback, hero-villain romances have led to some exciting and fun comic moments. However, Black Cat is finding out that one of her ex-girlfriends has returned the hard way, as Tamara Blake attacks with her own suit of Iron Man armor and is looking to get revenge for the death of their mentor.

In Iron Cat #1 by Jed MacKay, Pere Perez, Frank D'Armata, and VC's Ariana Maher from Marvel Comics, Black Cat is being hunted by someone using her old Iron Cat armor. After the new character confronts Felicia Hardy, she removes her mask and reveals herself as Tamara Blake, Black Cat's former thief training partner and ex-girlfriend. Blake wants revenge on Felica for killing their mentor, Black Fox. After escaping Iron Cat, Felicia Hardy shows up at Tony Stark's door, asking Iron Man to help her take down Blake. Stark tells her that they have "no common ground," as nothing she could say would make him help. However, when Black Cat reveals, "my ex-girlfriend is trying to kill me with super-science," Tony opens the door and tells her they have something in common after all.

Black Cat Iron Cat Tony Stark Iron Man

Iron Man would know a thing or two about having an evil ex-girlfriend, as he once famously shared a romance with Madame Masque, a villain who has tried to kill him many times. In this case, Black Cat's reason for asking for help is relatable to Tony Stark, as he knows the feeling of having a former flame turn against him.

Felicia Hardy and Tony Stark might make for an unlikely team-up, but the reason they're working together is quite funny. Iron Man has experience with evil ex-girlfriends trying to kill him, so hearing Black Cat was in a similar situation spoke to Tony, as he's been in that situation a few times before. Readers can see Iron Man and Black Cat join forces in Iron Cat #1 by Marvel Comics in comic book stores now.
