Warning! Spoilers ahead for She-Hulk: Attorney At Law episode 1. A heartbreaking MCU detail proves that Iron Man (Robert Downey Jr.) kept his promise and gave Hulk (Mark Ruffalo) his best life. Collectively known as the franchise's Science Bros., Tony Stark and Bruce Banner hit it off from the moment they first met in 2012's The Avengers. Their relationship wasn't as fleshed out as Iron Man and Captain America's (Chris Evans), but in the limited time they spent together in the franchise, it's clear that they shared a genuine friendship. Somehow, the events of She-Hulk: Attorney At Law doubled down on that.

Following his first post-Infinity Saga appearance in the Shang-Chi and The Legend of the Ten Rings post-credits, Banner makes his MCU return in the new Disney+ series. The She-Hulk: Attorney At Law series also introduces Tatiana Maslany as Jennifer Ann Walters aka. She-Hulk. Her ties to the Hulk, however, allow Marvel Studios to use the show to reveal new information about Ruffalo's character, including what he was up to in the five years after the Blip. Apparently, he isolated himself in a facility in Mexico built by Iron Man for him.

The revelation that Hulk has been staying in a compound commissioned by Stark for him was new information. However, Iron Man didn't come up with the idea just after Avengers: Infinity War. In Avengers: Age of Ultron, Stark already talked about the ideal life for Banner while selling the idea for the Ultron Initiative: "What if you're sipping margaritas on a sun-drenched beach turning brown instead of green." Much had happened after that. The Ultron Initiative didn't just fail, it also spectacularly backfired. Hulk also went missing after, ending up staying in Sakaar where he was found by Thor (Chris Hemsworth) in Thor: Ragnarok. Amidst all these changes, however, Stark held on to the possibility of a peaceful life for Banner, ultimately moving forward with building him the idyllic tropical facility that could be his happy ending (complete with beach bar) as seen in She-Hulk: Attorney At Law.

When Iron Man Built Hulk's Beach Bar Is Important

Smart Hulk talking to Jennifer in She-Hulk

Marvel Studios didn't actually reveal when Tony Stark built Hulk's Mexico laboratory and beach bar. According to Banner in She-Hulk: Attorney At Law, he spent the majority of the time after the Blip in the facility where he worked on creating Smart Hulk. It's possible that the Iron Man-funded Mexico lab had already been constructed even before Thanos' attack. It isn't even out of the realm of possibility that Iron Man went ahead and had it done right after he and Banner started working on the Ultron Initiative in Avengers: Age of Ultron. If this isn't the case, then perhaps it was one of the projects that kept Stark busy in the two years after the Avengers split up in Captain America: Civil War as he was still holding out hope that Hulk will eventually re-emerge. Whatever the case may be, the fact that Stark took it upon himself to build Banner his own safe space is a testament to how much he genuinely cared about his fellow Avengers.

Iron Man is now dead, and like the rest of the MCU, Banner is forced to move on without him, with the Mexico lab and beach bar containing many signs Hulk holds on to the memory of his friend tightly still. At least the Science Bros. were able to spend time with each other, even amidst the Avengers' loss to Thanos. As Hulk said in She-Hulk: Attorney At Law, "it was a good time during a hard time." Stark wasn't perfect as evidenced by his catastrophic mistake in Avengers: Age of Ultron. Despite this, Banner's Mexican retreat proves that no one can question his commitment to his friends.
