Iron Man and Batman fight in new fan art depicting a Marvel vs. DC battle. In the comics, the heroes are key members of the Avengers and the Justice League, respectively. However, they play equally important roles in the Marvel Cinematic Universe and DC Extended Universe. Robert Downey Jr. kicked the entire MCU off with Iron Man, while Ben Affleck's Batman was essential to the early formation of the DCEU with Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice. Additionally, both actors have since vacated their roles – at least for now – paving the way for new heroes. In Batman's case, the character lives on, this time played by Robert Pattinson, in next year's The Batman.

It seems unlikely another actor will portray Iron Man in the MCU as fans know it, due to his sacrifice at the end of Avengers: Endgame. However, there's a chance viewers will see Downey Jr. reprise his role in the future. In fact, the actor is rumored for Black Widow. As the film takes place in the past, Iron Man would be able to appear just like Black Widow, who similarly died in Avengers: Endgame. However, that may not be known for sure until Black Widow's release this November, if it is in fact able to debut then.

In the meantime, artist ApexForm offers an impressive new piece of fan art depicting a fight between Iron Man and Batman. In the image, Iron Man appears to have the upper hand. Though both heroes are standing, Batman is curved forward, as though recovering from a punch by the Marvel hero. Check out the art below:

This work is part of an ongoing "versus" series by ApexForm, where popular characters duke it out, and fans decide the winner. Past battles have included Suicide Squad's Katana vs. Black Widow, and The Matrix's Neo vs. Superman. For those, Black Widow and Superman won out. Though the winner of the Batman/Iron Man fight hasn't been determined yet, comic book readers have debated the matter before. Many think Tony Stark's tech would outweigh Batman's, though he is potentially too dependent on it. Both also have vast quantities of money at their disposal, which could even out the fight.

Since the Marvel and DC heroes will likely never appear on screen together, it's neat to see what could that look like. It also seems like Iron Man and Batman would be on the same side, though Captain America: Civil War and Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice proved even heroes sometimes disagree. In a real fight, hopefully Batman and Iron Man's morality would win out before any serious damage was done.
