Warning! Spoilers for Empyre #5 below

At this point in the Marvel Comics, it's a right of passage for a notable hero to get their own version of Tony Stark's Iron Man armor. But, in order to defeat the biggest threat in the galaxy, a new hero just got their own suit: the Fantastic Four's Reed Richards.

Stark has built suits (or had his suit's replicated) to give a plethora of Marvel heroes the chance to become their own version of Iron Man. In recent comic history, Black Cat, Black Widow, and soon Daredevil, have all been the recipients of specialized armor. However, with the Kree/Skrull alliance trying to blow up the sun and destroy the Cotati (currently attacking Wakanda) on Earth, Stark has built a brand new suit specifically tailer for one of the smartest people in the universe, Reed Richards.

In Marvel's Empyre event from Al Ewing, Dan Slott, Valerio Schiti, Marte Gracia, and Joe Caramagna, Reed and Stark got into a small argument about the supergenius building suits in his free time. After Stark argued "I think in suits" and that it's his way of processing, Tony and Reed realize they are fighting against the clock as both the Cotati Death Blossom in Wakanda, and the Earth's sun will explode in less than ten minutes. Having only "nine minutes to save the world twice over," as Stark puts it, Reed suits up in his new Iron Man armor.

Giving one of the smartest beings in the galaxy, who's already tremendously powerful his own set of Iron Man armor is a no-brainer for Tony, even if Reed was reluctant to suit up. But, whether the pair (and the rest of the Avengers) have enough time to stop the Kree/Skrull alliance from blowing up the sun, or the Cotati from releasing their Death Blossom in Wakanda remains to be seen. With less than 10 minutes to save the world twice, Reed and Tony are going to have to get even more creative to figure out a quick solution.

Honestly, Tony should build Iron Man suits for the entire Avengers team that are customized to their specific powers. It would allow them to travel through space and give them the extra ammunition needed to take on both cosmic and threats on Earth. In this case, Reed is probably as prepared as he can be to try to stop two massive threats in such a short time - although, the Fantastic Four's leader is facing an extremely uphill battle. But, at least he's got some extra reinforcements with his new armor.
