Iron Fist’s Finn Jones says that he wants to see Jessica Henwick’s Colleen Wing appear in a crossover with Simu Liu’s Shang-Chi. Based on the Marvel comic character created by Roy Thomas and Gil Kane, Iron Fist was the fourth Marvel series to stream on Netflix in the lead-up to The Defenders crossover event. Starring Jones as the billionaire and martial arts expert Danny Rand, his character was able to call upon the awesome mystical power of the Iron Fist.

Throughout the show’s two seasons, Henwick appeared as Colleen Wing, an ally of Rand and a martial artist who ran her own New York dojo. In the season 2 finale, Danny, who struggled with the abilities that were bestowed upon him, transferred his power over to Colleen, setting her up to be the new Iron Fist in a potential season 3. However, that third season never eventuated, and Iron Fist was cancelled along with all its fellow Marvel Netflix shows. Though with Marvel Studios reintroducing Charlie Cox’s Daredevil into the MCU proper, the door has been opened for the potential return of other characters from the Netflix series.

While speaking with Inverse, Jones spoke about his desire to see his character return alongside Mike Colter’s Luke Cage in a Heroes For Hire series. He also suggested that Henwick’s character should appear alongside Simu Liu’s own martial arts superhero Shang-Chi, before the characters all ultimately reunited onscreen. Check out his comments below:

I think it’d be really cool to see Danny and Luke come back together on a street level and team up. I’d love to see Colleen come back, I’d love to see her continue to hold the Iron Fist. I think it’d be sick if she showed up in something like Shang-Chi. You have these two separate worlds, you have Colleen with the Iron Fist and Shang-Chi, and then you have Luke Cage and Danny Rand doing Heroes for Hire. And then, over the years, they come back together in a really authentic way. I think that would be, from a fan standpoint, the most interesting and dynamic way to reintroduce these characters.

How An MCU Shang-Chi & Iron Fist Crossover Could Happen

This is not the first time that Henwick has been connected with Shang-Chi, and she has previously revealed that she turned down an MCU role in Legend of the Ten Rings in order to star in the Matrix Resurrections. Given that the role likely would have been a completely different character, her decision now leaves her open to reprise her old role as Wing alongside Liu’s Master of Kung Fu in the future. While an official release date has not yet been announced as part of their upcoming slate, Marvel has confirmed there will be a Shang Chi sequel written and directed by Legend of the Ten Rings’ Destin Daniel Cretton. With people like Charlie Cox and Vincent D’Onofrio already reprising their Netflix roles, it would not be too hard to envision Shang Chi crossing paths with Colleen Wing as the new Iron Fist.

The question will be whether Kevin Feige and Marvel Studios actually have an appetite to see the characters from the Iron Fist series live on in the MCU. While there have already been calls for the potential return of Krysten Ritter’s Jessica Jones and Jon Bernthal’s Punisher, Iron Fist was by far the lowest rated of the Marvel Netflix series and many Marvel fans could likely be keen to leave Jones’ iteration of the character in the past. However, by choosing to focus on Henwick’s Wing as the MCU’s new Iron Fist, Marvel could potentially have the best of both worlds and continue the universe established via the Netflix series while moving on from Jones' Danny Rand.
