Zac Efron's upcoming movie from A24 titled The Iron Claw casts the star of FX's The Bear, Jeremy Allen White. White is known for portraying Phillip “Lip” Gallagher on the Showtime series Shameless, and will be seen once again as Carmy in The Bear season 2 after it was renewed by FX. The Iron Claw is written and directed by Sean Durkin (Martha Marcy May Marlene) and follows the rise and fall of the Von Erich family and their professional wrestling dynasty.

Deadline reports that Efron will be playing Kevin Von Erich, and White will share the screen with him as his brother, Kerry Von Erich. Harris Dickinson will also be part of the film as another brother, David Von Eric. It is not currently known whether parents Fritz Von Erich and Doris J. Smith, or other brothers Jack Von Erich, Mike Von Erich, and Chris Von Erich will also be included.

It makes sense why White would be cast to portray a professional wrestler in The Iron Claw - his performance in The Bear shows that he knows how to tap into the mind of an incredibly ambitious young man, and show the range of emotions on screen that arise from a character under an extreme amount of pressure. Since this marks the first time that White and Efron are working together, how their screen chemistry influences their performances is something that will have to be seen.
