An extended midseason premiere trailer for The Flash season 4 dives deep into Barry's (Grant Gustin) upcoming trial and his allies racing against time to help prove his innocence. And from the looks of it, Iris (Candace Patton) is willing to do everything just to make sure that she won't be spending the next few years visiting his husband in prison.

It's as if Barry hasn't gone through enough this season, he is faced with arguably one of his biggest personal dilemmas as he is looking at potentially time behind bars after Clifford DeVoe/ Thinker (Neil Sandilands) successfully frames him for his supposed murder. The ploy was several episodes in the making and it seems like this season's villain was able to cover all his bases to make sure that Barry goes to prison. With his life hanging in the balance, the whole Team Flash scrambles to find a way to save him from this predicament.

Released by The CW in light of The Flash's imminent return on air next week, the clip features snippets of  what will go down in the episode titled "The Trial of The Flash." We've seen a majority of these shots from the previously released promo for the midseason return of the series. But it does add more context to what will happen next with the addition of never before scenes. That includes an extended scene of Joe West (Jesse L. Martin) possibly breaking and planting evidence into the DeVoe house with the help of and Ralph Dibny/Elongated Man (Hartley Sawyer). We also saw a tense encounter between Iris and  Marlize DeVoe/The Mechanic (Kim Engelbrecht) presumably in the hallways of the court where Barry's trial is being heard.

However, arguably, the main takeaway from the trailer is the new Mrs. West busting the court doors, seemingly ready to take the stand and get his husband out of the rut. Considering what Barry's counsel is suggesting: him coming out and revealing that he is living a double life as The Flash, popular theory is that Iris will do just that given his partner's reluctance to do so. Then again, it's also possible that she or Team Flash has come up with entirely something else that will help Barry's cause.

Despite several promos out by now, it remains unclear what the DeVoes bigger plan is. Marlize tells Iris that she's doing what she does for her husband but that in itself can mean a number of things. It's possible that she is sticking to their scheme that her husband was murdered by Barry or she really means it in an honest way, presuming that getting rid of The Flash on the streets of Central City will help the Thinker execute his evil plans.
