Thanks to reports from a couple of sources, pre-order dates for Apple's iPhone 13 and AirPods 3 may have just been revealed — and they're happening sooner than expected. Based on what's been rumored so far, this fall will be very busy for Apple. It's expected to launch the iPhone 13 series, AirPods 3, two new MacBook Pro models, and possibly a redesigned iPad mini.

While the expected products are fairly certain at this point, availability for them has been a tougher question to answer. In most years, Apple announces new iPhones in September, opens pre-orders a few days later, and then officially launches the phones about a week from pre-orders going live. Due to COVID-19 and ongoing chip shortages, last year was considerably different. The iPhone 12 wasn't announced until October 13, 2020 — a full month later than iPhones are typically unveiled. Apple then launched the phones in different stages: The iPhone 12 and 12 Pro launched on October 23, followed by the iPhone 12 mini and iPhone 12 Pro Max on November 13.

Considering all of that — and the fact that chip shortages are still very much a thing — there's been concern that the iPhone 13 could be hit with a similar delay. Thankfully, that doesn't appear to be the case. Spotted by IT Home, screenshots from a Chinese e-commerce app list the iPhone 13 as launching on September 17 and AirPods 3 going on sale September 30. There was some initial skepticism around the leak, but FrontPageTech later reaffirmed it. In other words, it's looking pretty likely that these are the correct dates.

What To Expect From iPhone 13 Pre-Orders & Release

As FrontPageTech goes on to explain, the September 17 date for the iPhone 13 is likely when pre-orders will begin. From there, the phones will officially launch a few days later on September 24. It's unclear if the September 30 date for AirPods 3 is for pre-orders or a full-on launch, but it's clear they won't be too far behind the iPhone 13 lineup.

The biggest puzzle piece that now remains is pre-order/availability info for the other rumored gadgets coming this fall. It's all but confirmed that the new 14-inch and 16-inch MacBook Pros are launching this year, but whether or not they'll have the same launch date as the iPhone 13 is still a mystery. The same is true of the rumored iPad mini. Even if Apple announces all of these things simultaneously, that doesn't necessarily mean they'll have identical pre-order and launch dates.

As for when that announcement is happening, all signs point to Apple holding an event on Tuesday, September 14. Apple will take the stage, run through all of its new gadgets, and there will suddenly be a slew of new Apple toys to fawn over. Exciting times are ahead!
