Ads have a habit of boosting songs into earworm status, and the latest iPhone 13 commercial proves it. Apple is known for its artsy, pleasant-to-the-eyes advertisements that showcase its roster of popular gadgets. These ads usually depict a snapshot of what everyday life could be like with the latest Apple product in hand while also raising up its most notable features, encouraging fans of the brand who haven't managed to procure the highlighted device yet to do so. They also manage to introduce songs they use as soundtracks into the mainstream, sometimes resulting in overnight success for the artists behind them.

One of the more recent entertaining Apple ads that showcased both the product and the song in the background featured a man wearing AirPods Pro, jumping rope to the snappy tune of "Fallin'" by Young Franco. Another demonstrated Apple Music's spatial audio capabilities through a woman jamming out to Masego & Don Toliver's "Mystery Lady". The newest Apple commercial focuses on the most recent iteration of the iPhone.

In the spot entitled "Doin' Laps", a kid in his bicycle gear sets a red iPhone 13 on a phone mount. As the kid begins his morning journey around the neighborhood, recording the whole thing in video selfie mode through his iPhone's camera, a catchy track begins playing with the lyrics "I look real good today" repeating on a loop. The camera pans out and hilariously reveals that rather than cruising around several different streets, the kid on the bike is merely—and quite aptly—doing laps around a cul-de-sac for what seemed like hours. The commercial ends with the kid still actively recording a video on the iPhone 13 well into the evening, with the slogan, "Looooooonger battery life" emblazoned on top.

Why The New iPhone Commercial’s Soundtrack Is Sooooo Good

The song that may very well be stuck in the brains of those who've seen the new Apple commercial is entitled "I Look Good" and it's by rapper O.T. Genasis. Known best for the 2014 hit song "CoCo", O.T. Genasis lends a great catchphrase for those who enjoy taking advantage of the iPhone 13's camera capabilities. The song—which actually first made online waves in 2019—has an equally hilarious official music video. Released in 2020, the video begins diary-style, with the rapper looking bored on day 69 of quarantine. O.T. Genasis answers his iPhone and seemingly FaceTimes with a buddy, who suggests shooting a video "to that song," to "be creative" and do it without a camera crew. The song's melodic guitar intro begins, with a cartoony banner of the artist's name and song title appearing mid-screen. O.T. Genasis then takes the iPhone, points it at himself, and proceeds to show different parts of his house while singing and dancing to the beautiful self-care mantra the song elevates.

The video also briefly shows the artist's TikTok page and subtly suggests that the video itself might have been shot on an actual iPhone as well as with other Apple products, like Photo Booth. The music video released by the rapper is highly relatable and may have the power to encourage fellow pandemic lockdown dwellers to shoot their own quarantine phone video clips. At the very least, both the music video and Apple's new iPhone 13 commercial are effective ways to shine a light on the gadget's long battery life as well as its camera quality.
