iOS 15 officially launches this fall, but for Apple mega-fans that can't wait that long, they can join the public beta and start using the software update right now. Joining is as easy as signing up for the beta program, enrolling an eligible device, and downloading a software update.

Apple unveiled iOS 15 during its WWDC event on June 7. While the update isn't as drastic of a change the way iOS 14 was, there's still a lot included in iOS 15 that should make the iPhone a better overall experience. It improves notifications, adds a new 'Focus' feature to reduce distractions, and comes with a heap of improvements for FaceTime. All of the changes are relatively small on their own, but the complete package of iOS 15 is worth getting excited about.

For anyone that wants to start using iOS 15 right now, the good news is that they can. The iOS 15 public beta opened up for all users on June 30, 2021, allowing anyone with a compatible iPhone to get their hands on the software ahead of its final release in the fall. To get started, head to the Apple Beta Software Program website from an iPhone, tap 'Sign up' to create an account, or tap 'Sign in' if an account already exists. Once logged in, tap 'Accept' on the Agreement page to finalize the account.

How To Download iOS 15 Beta After Signing Up

Downloading the iOS 15 public beta

Now that the iCloud account is enrolled in the Apple Beta Software Program, it's time to actually download iOS 15. After accepting the Agreement, users should be on a page that says 'Guide for Public Betas' at the top. Make sure 'iOS' is selected from the list of operating systems, scroll down the page, and tap 'enroll your iOS device' under the Get Started section. On the new page that opens up, scroll down, tap 'Download profile,' and tap 'Allow' on the pop-up that appears. The download should take less than a second, and once it's finished, another pop-up will display a 'Profile Downloaded' message. Tap 'Close' on that pop-up to continue.

Go to the iPhone's home screen, open the Settings app, tap the 'Profile Downloaded' shortcut near the top of the screen, and tap 'Install.' Lastly, go back to the main Settings page, tap 'General,' tap 'Software Update,' and an update to the iOS 15 beta should be present. Download it like any other update, and within a matter of minutes, iOS 15 will be up and running on that iPhone.

As exciting as it may be to start using iOS 15, keep in mind that this is a beta and not final software. In other words, bugs, missing features, and other inconsistencies are not uncommon. Apple recommends having a current backup of the iPhone before downloading iOS 15, allowing users to revert to iOS 14 if the beta is too unstable for whatever reason. Furthermore, the iOS 15 public beta is available for any iPhone released in 2014 and later. Regardless if someone has an iPhone 6, iPhone 12 Pro, or anything in between, they'll be able to enroll and use iOS 15 just the same.
