The first issue of Invincible is getting a special re-release with bonus features and an animated art variant cover in honor of its upcoming Amazon animated series. The TV series variant celebrates the animated style of the show. There will also be new exclusive material within the issue itself.

Invincible is the creation of Robert Kirkman, the man behind The Walking Dead and Outcast, along with Ryan Ottley and Cory Walker. The series starred Mark Grayson as Invincible, the teenage superpowered son of one of the strongest heroes on Earth, Omni-Man. Originally published by Image Comics from issues #0-73, the series became part of Image's Skybound Entertainment imprint from issue #74 to the final issue, #144. In addition to being picked up by Amazon for an animated series, Invincible will also be receiving a live-action movie unrelated to the show.

In the official announcement from Image ComicsInvincible #1 will be getting a limited edition re-release prior to the premiere of the animated series. The first issue will be sporting a new TV variant cover created by series artist Ryan Ottley and colorist Nathan Fairbairn. The cover features the Teen Team, including Mark Grayson, Atom Eve, Robot, Dupli-Kate, and Rex Splode. The interiors of issue #1 will have new content as well, specifically behind-the-scenes featurettes revolving around the animated show, which will be premiering in March.

Invincible #1 TV Series Variant

The animated Invincible show has been highly anticipated ever since it was first announced in a Hollywood Reporter exclusive back in April 2017. The show will be produced by Seth Rogen and Evan Goldberg, the team who previously produced the Preacher and The Boys TV show adaptation. Even more exciting is the actors cast in the series, including the likes of The Walking Dead's Steven Yuen as Mark Grayson, Whiplash's J.K. Simmons as Omni-Man, Killing Eve star Sandra Oh as Debbie Grayson, Rogen as Allen the Alien, and Mark Hamill as Art Rosenbaum, to name just a few.

The Invincible #1 TV series variant is available for pre-order and will be in comic shops on March 17th. New readers will have just enough time to familiarize themselves with the show's origins before the first three out of eight episodes of Invincible premiere on Prime Video on March 26, 2021. After all, if the comic-accurate designs of the show are anything to go by, this adaptation is likely to be very faithful to the comics, especially since Kirkman and Walker are involved with the animated series. Though hopefully, as was done with The Walking Dead, there will be plenty of surprises that comic book readers and non-comic fans alike won't see coming.
