Content Warning: The following article contains spoilers for the series Inventing Anna.

Since Inventing Anna is a miniseries that revolves around its protagonist's knack for deceiving others, it’s not that easy to find totally likable characters. That said, some do manage to show they have admirable traits and even charming personalities.

From the kindhearted Kacy to the loyal Todd, the most likable characters in the show try to do good things despite the chaotic situations they find themselves in. With the recent release of the drama series, it’s the perfect time to think about who the most likable characters actually were and what they did to appeal to fans.

Chase Sikorski

Chase and Anna may have been an ideal TV couple at the start, but the cracks in their relationship begin to show when audiences realize that neither of them are very good people. Although Chase blames Anna for his downfall, he was just as willing to use Nora and her connections to promote his app to investors.

The way he persuades Anna to shamelessly stay on her friend’s yacht is also a major red flag. Plus, it was frustrating to watch him undermine her when she was clearly more capable than he ever was.

Nora Radford

The only reason fans may like Nora at least a little bit is the way she opens doors for Anna once she finally stops being unkind to her. For the majority of the show, though, Nora is depicted as an arrogant and entitled person who looks down on anyone who isn’t ass rich and powerful as she is.

It’s almost satisfying to learn that Anna is able to steal $400,000 worth of designer items for her, but fans go right back to being irritated when Nora says she easily got it all back because she’s friends with the person who owns AmEx.

Rachel Williams

One of the reasons Inventing Anna is a great miniseries is because of how complex its characters can be. Fans may initially view Rachel as a gullible friend who is easily victimized by Anna, but soon sees that she’s capable of making the best out of her bad situation.

Viewers are likely divided when it comes to how Rachel sells her story and profits off of her experience with Anna. She’s generally portrayed in a negative light in the show, but it’s not hard to empathize with her after everything she endures because of the fraudster.

Alan Reed

Perhaps Alan’s biggest mistake when dealing with Anna was the way he turned a blind eye to the suspicious aspects of her identity because she reminded him so much of his daughter (in a bad way). In his eyes, his daughter is wasting valuable years of her life, while Anna is doing the complete opposite by trying to build an empire.

This mistake doesn’t make him particularly unlikable, but it does make it easier for viewers to appreciate how far he goes under this false belief that he’s helping someone achieve their goals.

Vivian Kent

Vivian Kent Didn't Convince Anna To Go To Trial Inventing Anna

Although audiences watch the story unfold mostly through Vivian’s eyes, she does some pretty questionable things that have likely left audiences scratching their heads. She has the tendency to just ignore problems until she can’t anymore, which is what she does when an interview about her garners national attention and when she’s about to give birth.

While her persistence and intuitiveness depicted when she’s chasing impossible leads and questioning Anna’s vague answers are admirable, some fans likely don’t appreciate her disregard for her own health and personal life.

Jack Mercer

Despite being a side character, Jack’s role as Vivian’s husband has made him more likable than the journalist is. He somehow plays the role of a kind and supportive partner and a stern voice of reason with ease.

Jack is able to see Vivian through a more objective lens, so he gives useful advice about her obsession with Anna. In a way, his words often help remind audiences that the entire situation is wild, and for people like Jack who are unavoidably dragged into it, it’s a lot to deal with.

Neff Davis

As Vivian says, Neff is “the power behind the throne,” as she’s one of the smartest characters in Inventing Anna who gets her in the right restaurants and the hottest parties. She’s uncompromising when it comes to loyalty and friendship, as she doesn’t leave Anna when everyone else has abandoned her – it’s a controversial decision that’s still often debated in the fandom.

Of course, Neff’s badass moments like her confrontation with Rachel and witty lines during her interview with Vivian make her more likable than not. She repeatedly says that she admires a good hustle, and viewers who agree will find themselves captivated by her strong personality.

Anna Delvey (Anna Sorokin)

When only talking about the character, Anna Delvey, audiences will likely find that despite how despicable her actions are, she still manages to be likable. Just like how she ends up making people like Vivian, Todd, and Neff deeply care for her, her story likely appeals to most viewers who are impressed by her cons.

Julia Garner’s brilliant performance makes Anna a character some may root for, especially during the tear-jerking moments that show her more vulnerable side. Of course, some detest her for her horrific actions depicted in the series, as well as her questionable decisions when it comes to betraying her friends (like Rachel and Val).

Todd Spodek

Todd sitting in Inventing Anna.

Todd is one of the best characters in the series, as his fascinating story arc is more complex than it first seems. Todd’s insecurities about his marriage and his career make him a more sympathetic character, so even though he’s defending a fraudster, fans can’t help but cheer for him.

It also helps that viewers see his more caring side when he helps Vivian during a stressful time, which is the same thing he does several times for Anna throughout the series. His problematic decision to end his relationship to stay and comfort Anna may irk some fans, but it’s a forgettable aspect that doesn’t outweigh his more charming moments over the course of the show.

Kacy Duke

Although Kacy is arguably the one in the friend group with the least interesting story arc, she still manages to be the most likable character. The wellness coach is the one her friends turn to when they need soothing words or useful advice, which speaks volumes about the kind of person she is.

Kacy’s major flaw is that she gives too much of herself to other people, so it’s satisfying to watch her eventually learn to set clear boundaries towards the end of the show. She’s just a kindhearted, beautiful, and compassionate person who anyone would want to be friends with.
