Spider-Man: Into The Spiderverse sees Spider-people of all worlds coming together to defeat The Kingpin in hopes that they can return home. The story centers around Miles Morales, who watches his worlds Spider-Man dies and takes it upon himself to embrace his powers and become the next one.

The movie is one of the most beautiful animated films ever and it's also filled with fantastic references that any Spider-Man fan will appreciate, and great characters that are developed really well over the course of the movie. Miles Morales and Gwen Stacy aka Spider-Gwen share a particular bond and friendship that is very entertaining to watch.

Gwen: Her Backstory

Spider-Gwen's backstory is only briefly summarised in Into The Spiderverse, and it's a little different from her other counterparts. Gwen Stacy gets her powers like the rest of them, through a radioactive spider. However, her real turning point is when her best friend Peter Parker dies, and she blames herself because she couldn't save him. While the other heroes have an Uncle Ben type of storyline, Miles loses Spider-Man in front of him and Gwen loses Peter, which gives them a push to be heroes.

Miles: His Powers

Miles has a great origin story in Spider-Verse. His father is a police officer who hates Spider-Man, and he is forced to go to an elite school where he doesn't really fit in. The best part of the movie is when he fully discovers his powers to generate electric shocks and turn invisible. These are unique powers exclusively to Miles.

Gwen: Her Friendship With Miles

Gwen and Miles become fast friends once she forgives him for accidentally ripping off a good chunk of her hair. He's sorry about it, obviously, because he actually likes her and it was just bad timing. They do bond over the course of the movie and it's really sweet to watch, especially since Gwen isn't comfortable with having friends after the death of her worlds Peter Parker.

Miles: His Backstory

Miles Morales' backstory is something that hasn't really been seen through film. He goes to an elite school which he hates and looks up to his Uncle Aaron who lets him paint and do graffiti which are things his father disapproves of.

He's just figuring out who he is and his story is a refreshing new addition to the Spider-Man cinematic universe. Especially since it eventually mirrors the similar tragedies the other Spider-Mans dealt with.

Gwen: Her Suit

Gwen's superhero suit is awesome. It looks like something of a cross between a ballet costume and a spider-man suit, which fits her whole argument of how graceful she is when she's fighting crime. It's insanely cool and it also sets her apart from the other characters since she doesn't go for the traditional Spider-Man red.

Miles: His Bond With His Uncle Aaron

From the start of the film, it's obvious that the adult that Miles looks up to is his Uncle Aaron, who is almost like a father figure to him. Aaron isn't as innocent as Miles thinks and ends up working for Kingpin as the Prowler, but as soon as they learn of each other's secret identities it's clear that things won't end well. They have a bond that Miles and his father never had, and Aaron's villain alter-ego is a great plot-twist that changes Miles perspective on being Spider-Man.

Gwen: She's Awesome

Gwen Stacy is just an awesome character. She has a band in her world, in which she is the drummer, and while she might not like it, the new haircut she has because of Miles is a good look. She has a punk vibe around her that's different and very cool to see.

Miles: His Friendship With Peter B. Parker

Miles and Peter B. Parker, the older and more depressed version of Peter Parker, form a bond during the movie that is really wholesome and it's sad when they eventually have to part ways. At first, he wants nothing to do with Miles and just wants to go home, but Peter eventually ends up appreciating their friendship.

Peter B. Parker is both a mentor and a friend to Miles, and hopefully they are reunited in the sequel.

Gwen: Her Reaction The First Time She Meets Miles

Gwen Stacy in Into The Spider-Verse

Gwen is obviously seeking out Miles at the start of Into The Spiderverse because she landed in a completely different world and could sense his powers. Their first meeting is adorable because she laughs at one of his stupid jokes because it was lame and not funny. She then lies about her name and says she's called Gwanda.

Miles: He Stays In Contact With Gwen

The sad part about Spider-Man: Into The Spiderverse is that they all have to go back to their own dimensions, which is hard to watch after all of their great interactions together. There is definitely going to be a sequel, and thankfully the end scene where Miles and Gwen discover they can keep in contact gives us enough hope.
