Into the Badlands saved a treat for audiences by delivering the best martial arts fight scene ever on TV in the Into the Badlands season 3 finale. The Into the Badlands series finale pulls no punches with an impressive action sequence involving most of the cast. The season as a whole has been packed with action, but the series finale stands out for its final battle scene.

The post-apocalyptic martial arts series just wrapped up its third and final season on AMC. The last several episodes have been building up to a dramatic conclusion to season 3 and Pilgrim's plan to bring the Gift to the Badlands. The most recent battle with Pilgrim (Babou Ceesay) resulted in the tragic deaths of two key characters, Lydia (Orla Brady) and Nix (Ella-Rae Smith). The penultimate episode saw Sunny (Daniel Wu) and the others recruit the Black Lotus for their upcoming encounter with Pilgrim. It all comes to a head in the season 3 finale, "Seven Strike as One", as Sunny leads his allies into battle against Pilgrim and his army of Dark Ones.

The final battle scene in "Seven Strike as One" amounts to a nearly 10-minute-long martial arts sequence in which most of the cast partakes in the action. Sunny, Bajie (Nick Frost), Kannin (Eugenia Yuan), Moon (Sherman Augustus), Pilgrim, the Widow (Emily Beecham), Gaius (Lewis Tan), Tilda (Ally Ioannides), and M.K. (Aramis Knight) all have parts to play in this climactic sequence, not to mention the dozens of unnamed warriors fighting each other in the background. The sheer number of actors involved is breathtaking to watch, especially when considering how much time and effort must have gone into filming and putting together such an intense sequence.

The sequence is broken down into three parts, one with Tilda, Gaius, and Widow teaming up to fight M.K., the second being Moon having to get through Pilgrim's men to kill Cressida (Lorraine Toussaint), and finally, Sunny, Bajie, Kannin, and the Black Lotus against Pilgrim's army. The skills of the highly talented martial arts stunt team and the actors, including Daniel Wu, Lewis Tan, Eugenia Yuan, Sherman Augustus and more, are all on display.

The final battle boils down to Sunny, Bajie, Kannin, and Pilgrim. Sunny spending his last breaths to leap into the air and plunge his sword into Pilgrim's heart is the icing on the cake for martial arts fans. This moment is reminiscent of classic kung fu films where the battered, worn-out hero defies death to make the finishing blow against an overpowered villain. What transpires in Into the Badlands' series finale is a beautifully choreographed kung fu war scene that audiences won't be able to find anywhere else on TV, partly due to the fact that martial arts TV shows are unfortunately few and far between. This is part of what makes Into the Badlands such a unique series, and another reason why fans are so sad to see it end.
