When The Baby-Sitters Club film was released in 1995, fans of the book series by Ann M. Martin were glad to have an adaptation of these special stories. While it's true that the recent Netflix series is well-crafted and popular, the 90's film has its perfect moments, too. Sure, the Netflix show sees the girls heading to Camp Moosehead as campers (and they don't have the best time), but the movie saw them starting their own summer camp. It was really fun watching these beloved characters take on such a big and grown-up challenge.

It has been over 20 years since the movie and there is still so much to learn about it, from who auditioned for what part to whether the young actors really were fans of the BSC book series.

Some Parents (Even Kevin Costner) Showed Up On Set

It sounds like the movie set for The Baby-Sitters Club was a really fun place to hang out. Melanie Mayron, who directed the film, has said that the parents of some of the actors would come to the set.

Kevin Costner showed up on set sometimes as his children were actors in the film, too. That's a really fun fact that fans of the movie might not know.

Many Of The Actors Loved The Book Series

The BSC series has many fans, which is why it's so exciting that Netflix has produced a new show. Fans will be happy to know that even the stars of the 1995 movie have read them, too. Both Rachel Leigh Cook and Larisa Olyenik loved the book series, according to Vulture.

Schuyler Fisk, Who Played Kristy, Is Sissy Spacek's Daughter

According to Vulture, the actress who played Kristy, Schuyler Fisk, is the daughter of Sissy Spacek. And as it turns out, director Melanie Mayron has a special connection with the actress and that's how Fisk got the role.

Mayron told Vulture that she and Spacek were good pals and they had been in Missing. Since Steven Spacek, Sissy's nephew, was working as Mayron's assistant, he told Mayron that Schuyler Fisk was acting in some musicals and was in grade seven. Fisk did the audition via videotape with her mom helping out by saying the other lines, and when the tape was sent to Mayron, she cast Fisk.

Fans of romantic comedies love the makeover story within She's All That. It's sweet and powerful and proves that beauty is on the inside, too. Fans of this film love Rachel Leigh Cook, who played Laney Boggs.

Mary Anne was Rachel Leigh Cook's first part and she was in the BSC move even before she played Laney, as She's All That came out in 1999.

Zelda Harris Was 10 When Filming The Movie (And Acted In A Spike Lee Movie)

Larisa Olyenik Went After Three Characters At Her Audition

90's kids will remember Larisa Oleynik from her starring role in 10 Things I Hate About You and the TV show The Secret Life Of Alex Mack. She also played Dawn in the 1995 BSC movie.

According to Vulture, when Olyenik went to her audition for the film, she was going after three different parts: Dawn, Stacey, and Kristy. It's hard to picture her as anyone but Dawn as she embodied her sunny California vibes perfectly.

The Actress Who Played Mallory Didn't Actually Have Red Hair

Sometimes an actor will have to get a whole new look for a part and it's always interesting to learn what was done.

When Stacy Linn Ramsower was cast as Mallory Pike, who has red hair that is pretty wild, she had blonde hair. The actress got a perm and her hair was also dyed red.

Tricia Joe played Claudia, the popular character who loves art more than studying and who has a phone in her bedroom so that's where the girls meet for their babysitting club.

According to Refinery 29, Tricia Joe didn't act anymore after the BSC film. She went to school for criminal justice and dance, which is definitely a cool combination.

It Has Two Actors From Thirtysomething

Thirtysomething may not get as much attention as TV dramas that focus on people in their 20's but it definitely deserves just as much credit. The show deals with friendship, parenting, marriage, grief, and career in really intelligent ways.
