A prototype of Tesla's Cybertruck popped up in Califonia and gave fans a peek inside. Just last a month, a prototype of the eclectic vehicle made an appearance at the Michigan Formula SAE competition at the Michigan International Speedway in Brooklyn, Mich. Tesla had a booth at the race for its recruitment drive and used that to showcase the anticipated EV. Attendees only got to see the exterior at this event, though.
The Cybertruck has been delayed so many times it's hard to keep track. As of now, it's supposed to go into production next year. Plus, the U.S. is the only place consumers can continue ordering it. Tesla has paused orders in other countries because demand is so high. The EV company is already seeing delays with the vehicles being produced now. Since the truck isn't ready yet, and orders keep coming in, it's hard to say when people will get their car. Multiple delays haven't stopped fans from being excited, though. Tesla even capitalized on this by making a Cybertruck whistle.
According to KSBW Action 8 News, a prototype of the Cybertruck appeared at the Pacific Gas and Electric Company (PG&E) factory in Moss Landing, Calif. It was the unveiling ceremony for the new battery energy storage system (Elkhorn Battery System). The system holds 256 Tesla Megapacks (roughly 3 MWh each). The event was another great way for Tesla to hype up its Cybertruck. Not that it needs any more publicity. But when consumers look closely at the truck, it's not as stylish as Tesla's other offerings. The exterior may be a unique design, but the company didn't get as creative on the inside.
Cybertruck Not As Stylish As Other Teslas
While the Tesla Model 3 is very basic, the silver lines elevate the inside look. The white leather seats and the expansive sunroof also give it a stylish look. However, when a driver looks inside the Cybertruck, it's just not the same. There is no silver trim, and everything is just grey. It gives it a dingy look. The steering wheel does have a futuristic feel to it to match the exterior design. It's not round like a typical steering wheel. Instead, it's 'U' shaped with many buttons on it.
Given that the Model 3 is the cheapest model and starts at $25,000, the Cybertruck might not be worth the estimated price tag of $39,900. It might be cool to drive around in a futuristic-looking vehicle, but the inside leaves a lot to be desired. It doesn't have the stylish details of even the lowest-price Tesla model. Even though the outside looks cool and something someone might drive on Mars, it doesn't look as polished as Tesla's other EVs. It could be because it's still in the development stages, but most consumers will probably be better off buying one of the other Tesla models or buying an electric truck from another brand.
