Kim Kardashian took her prison reform work one step further by launching her podcast The System, and The Kardashians star has already revealed a lot about Kevin Keith's case. When Kim covered Interview Magazine in September, she told editor-in-chief Mel Ottenberg that she was launching a true-crime podcast. She didn't reveal much information, only stating that she would be covering a case where someone was given the death penalty for a triple homicide in Ohio. Kim is currently in law school and passed her baby bar exam in December 2021. She is passionate about prison reform, and her late father, Robert Kardashian, is her biggest inspiration.

Kim is using her podcast to further her pursuits of freeing prisoners from unfair sentences, and the first episode she released gave listeners the ins and outs of Kevin's case. Unlike other podcasts that can be found on Spotify or Apple Podcasts, The System is heavily produced, proving Kim has put a lot of effort into her show in order to be taken seriously and get her message across. In the episode, Kim uses a mixture of her own voice recordings, clips from news reporters and attorneys involved in the case, and recordings from calls with Kevin and his brother Charles Keith. She also has some recordings from Lauren Rothchild, who taught Kim about the case, and gave Kim her notebook full of six years of research on the subject.

Kim Kardashian Knows All The Details Of Kevin Keith's Case

Kim Kardashian From The Kardashians

Kim learned about Kevin when she appeared on Celebrity Family Feud, and a producer pitched the case to her and put her in contact with Lauren. Kim explains that Kevin was accused of murdering Marichell Chatman, her 4-year-old daughter, Marchae, and Marichell's aunt, Linda Chatman, in February 1994. However, there is no concrete evidence that Kevin was responsible for their murders. One reason his family believes Kevin, a black American, was found guilty is that there was an all-white jury on the case. Key witness, Marichell's boyfriend, Richard Warren, who survived being shot during the murders, is also white. Kevin maintains his claims that he is innocent. Kim also details how Kevin was freed from the death sentence and sentenced to life in prison. The episode ends on a shocking cliffhanger in which Marichell's brother claims he knows Kevin was the one who murdered his sister.

Kim first showed interest in prison reform when she freed Alice Johnson from a sentence for a nonviolent drug offense with the help of then-president Donald Trump. Unfortunately, the public was upset with her for working with the president and didn't buy that she genuinely cared about prison reform. Their reaction is understandable since Kim has spent years appropriating black culture and showing little interest in stopping racism despite having four black children and previously being married to a black man. If anything, Kim has thrived off her white privilege. Recently she's been accused of returning to her white roots now that she's no longer with Kanye West. The accusations come after she seemingly removed her Brazilian butt lift, died her hair blonde, and began appearing with a much lighter skin tone.

On the other hand, it's hard to deny how much Kim's work has helped. While it doesn't erase the damage she's caused in the past, her star power has brought attention to so many cases. On many occasions, she's either freed prisoners or lightened their sentences. Everyone has a right to dislike Kim for whatever reason they choose, but The Kardashians star's new podcast has everyone talking about Kevin's case, and this is exactly what he and his family wanted.
