From the creator of Pony Island and The Hex comes Inscryption, a disturbing mix of roguelike deckbuilding, escape room puzzles, and psychological horror. This mind-bending, blood-laced hodgepodge of genres challenges players of all game types to find their way out with their lives, and sanity, intact. One of the more challenging puzzles is the clock that sits in the room during act 1. Players can access the clock puzzle immediately, but aside from spinning the hands around, not much more is known about how to open it.

Much of the game, especially the early acts, seem to take inspiration from the stories of H.P. Lovecraft. With little fanfare, Inscryption drops players immediately into The Cabin, a dingey lodging where the Leshey resides. Players must solve puzzles with clues provided within the cabin to escape and finish the first act of the game.  The most challenging puzzle, as it turns out, is the last part of the chain that players must solve in order to escape: the cuckoo clock puzzle.

There are a few steps to complete this puzzle but first, players should collect a ring. This can be acquired from a compartment atop the clock that opens up by setting the hands to 11:00 (the hour hand at 11, the minute hand at 12, and the second hand at 12). The ring doesn’t become helpful until much later in Inscryption.

How To Acquire the Eldritch Eye in Inscryption

Inscryption players need the eldrich eye to see the glowing markings on the clock. To gain this item, players must win a card match after using the knife to sacrifice their own eye, one of the many deeply unsettling mechanics this creepy blend of genres introduces, for a boost. The captor will then offer a replacement eye from a box. The eye players need has blue glowing lines. It will also reveal other hidden symbols and messages throughout the cabin.

Players can look at the clock with the newly acquired eldritch eye and see glowing marks on the clock's face. The hands of the clock must be turned to match the direction and size of the mark outlines. If this is done correctly, players will receive the stunted wolf card and a roll of camera film before achieving their great escape.

With the clock puzzle solved and the items collected, including the ring, players can escape the cabin and, subsequently, the first act of the game. Inscryption has proved itself to be an evolution in the gaming industry, especially for the roguelike deckbuilding genre.
