With a prequel comic adding to rumors of an Injustice 3, expectations are high that the newest entry in the popular video game series will go above and beyond by expanding the roster of characters from its predecessors. Fans have eagerly speculated on which new characters may enter the fight, as well as if favorites like the Penguin will finally be playable. Adding to the excitement is the recent announcement from Rocksteady Studios which revealed the poster for a brand-new Suicide Squad game. Because of the timing, adding in the entire Suicide Squad as playable characters in Injustice 3 seems like the perfect idea.

The Suicide Squad is arguably the most famous team of DC supervillains. Over the years, the group has featured the Joker, Harley Quinn, Deadshot, Killer Croc, and Enchantress, just to name a few. The Suicide Squad has already headlined one movie, and James Gunn is writing/directing another. There’s no doubt Suicide Squad is popular, and Injustice 3 could really benefit from having every one of these all-stars be playable.

Fans were already excited at the prospects of an Injustice 3, listing off their dream teams of heroes and villains to be added to the game on Reddit and social media sites. Members of the Suicide Squad, like Killer Croc, often topped those lists. Killer Croc already had cameos in Injustice 2 and Injustice: Gods Among Us, so it’s not too much of a stretch to add him to the roster of playable characters.

Other members of the Suicide Squad, like Enchantress, were locked behind DLC or left out completely. Harley Quinn is still a major headliner, though, and Injustice 3 could be the perfect time to bring back the Joker in some capacity, considering he’s possibly the most famous supervillain of all time. This could especially work if Injustice 3 is a prequel like the comic, leaving the door wide open to which characters can appear in full force.

Lesser-known members of the team could also be added in, such as Polka-Dot Man (who appears in the Injustice prequel comic) and Killer Shark (who was removed from the first Suicide Squad movie but is confirmed for the James Gunn sequel alongside Polka-Dot Man). With so many rotating members over the years, it might be unlikely for everyone to make it into Injustice 3. Instead, it’s far more plausible that the entirety of the current Suicide Squad team would appear. More details regarding both the Suicide Squad game and Injustice 3 will hopefully arrive at DC FanDome on August 22nd.
