Having seen huge success with the DC fighting video game Injustice: Gods Among Us, Warner Bros. Interactive Entertainment and NetherRealm Studios are back with the sequel to the critically-acclaimed sequel, Injustice 2. In a couple of months, the one-on-one fighter will hit shelves across the globe, bringing together some of DC’s most recognizable heroes, villains and everything in-between.

The lead-up to that release has seen an incredible series of teasers and trailers drop, with a slew of big names including Poison Ivy, Catwoman and Gorilla Grodd making their marks. Now, the latter has been showcased once more with a roster of villains in a brand new trailer, which serves as the fourth part to the Shattered Alliances series of promos.

In the trailer above, Grodd rises up to go against the system and ‘Regime’, attempting to bring a shift to the usual status quo in the DC Universe with his new ‘Society’. Unfortunately for those on the side of heroics, he’s not alone in his efforts, working with the likes of Deadshot and Captain Cold to get what he wants. For those unfamiliar, the ‘Regime’ is a group that hunted down and executed the members of the Rogues they could get their hands on, including Captain Cold’s sister, Lisa Snart a.k.a. Golden Glider.

Naturally, Leonard Snart is out for revenge, and with this being Cold’s debut in this type of game, he’s also been featured in a newly-released trailer that dropped earlier this week. Using all of the skills he’s garnered throughout his time as a thief, he’ll blast his way through anybody who stands between him and vengeance with his iconic weapon, the Cold Gun.

There are those who are worried that, if Mr Freeze makes it into the game, he and Captain Cold would have too similar a play style. Here, Cold tends to use his gun to build a variety of different helpful objects such as ledges and shields to make his way through a battle. He looks to be one of the more complicated fighters for players to get to grips with, but one that would give a tremendous payoff. If Freeze also makes it, we'd hope that his move set would be completely different.

As the weeks roll by and we move ever closer to the Injustice 2 release, the game is really shaping up to be something special. If those working on it can deliver a story as intricately-detailed and addictive as the one we saw in the original Injustice game, we’re onto a winner.

Injustice 2 comes to Xbox One and PlayStation 4 on May 16, 2017.
