Robert Downey Jr. has confirmed that there's more conflict on the horizon for Iron Man and Captain America in Avengers: Infinity War. And you thought a silly little thing like the apocalypse would send their family feud to the backburner. Pshhh.

Thanos' invasion of Earth is just over 5 months away. He's coming for those Infinity Stones, and if the Avengers don't band together, the planet is doomed. The Mad Titan is far and away the most dangerous villain they've ever faced, and according to Kevin Feige, that fact will be cemented in the first five minutes of the film. (He'll apparently even have Loki in his corner.) But thanks to the events of Captain America: Civil War, Earth's Mightiest Heroes are in a sorry state.

The bad blood between Tony Stark and Steve Rogers had been building for a while, but they finally came to blows in Civil War, dragging most of the known superheroes of Earth into the scuffle as well. We figured they'd bury the hatchet in order to stave off disaster, but according to Robert Downey Jr., that may not be the case. At least not right away. Here's what RDJ told USA Today about the possibility of more conflict between Cap and Iron Man:

That’s the hardest for me, because I look at [Chris] Evans and I just to want to go over and smell him or tell him he looks cool in those sunglasses when he’s walking over to have lunch. And then I’m just staring daggers at him, getting mad. But even that relationship is going to take a turn.

Captain America and Iron Man face off in Civil War

It's not entirely clear what Downey means by "staring daggers" and "take a turn." Civil War ended on a rather hopeful note... Well, at least when you consider that Tony and Steve had nearly just beaten each other to death. Is RDJ saying that they're still pissed at each other when they first meet up, and then the relationship takes a turn back into friendly territory? Is he saying that they'll find themselves at odds once again with Earth's fate hanging in the balance?

Either way, it looks like this rivalry has another chapter or two left to play out. But with the end of the world a scavenger hunt and a finger snap away, Steve and Tony need to patch things up fast. Thanos is coming really soon.
