Writer Christopher Markus shares a behind-the-scenes photo of life-size Hulkbuster armor, as seen in Avengers: Infinity War. The film marked the beginning of the end for Marvel's Infinity Saga, which began back in 2008 with Iron Man. However, Avengers: Endgame was the true end to the first decade of the MCU, paying tribute to the original six Avengers. Unfortunately, by the end of the film, only three remained, with Black Widow and Iron Man sacrificing themselves. Meanwhile, Captain America traveled back in time to live out his past, making him an old man in present day.

Though he didn't feature quite as heavily in the final two films as some of the other Avengers, Mark Ruffalo's Bruce Banner/Hulk also got a chance to shine at the end of the Infinity Saga. One of his biggest moments came in Avengers: Infinity War, during the Wakanda Battle scene. After spending the entire movie unable to transform into the Hulk, Bruce is able to use Hulkbuster armor to still be of use to the Avengers. Markus and fellow writer Stephen McFeely have revealed before that the original version of that scene saw Bruce transform into Smart Hulk, a hybrid of his two sides. It would have been Smart Hulk's first appearance in the MCU. However, the writers ultimately decided to save that moment for Avengers: Endgame, leaving fans with the Hulkbuster scene.

During a watch party with ComicBook, Markus shared many details from filming Avengers: Infinity War, though he and McFeely also wrote Avengers: Endgame. They discussed their reasoning for certain decisions involving cut characters and scenes. However, at one point, Markus shared a behind-the-scenes photo featuring a life size version of the Hulkbuster armor, albeit made of Styrofoam. Check out the Hulkbuster armor photo below:

Armor and suits are a huge component of superhero movies, including in the MCU. Iron Man, for example, went through dozens of different suits during his time onscreen. They often reflect changes in a character's abilities or hint at what powers are needed for a particular battle. The Hulkbuster armor is different in that Bruce Banner himself gets to wear it, despite being one of several MCU characters who doesn't usually wear a suit. It also allows for an important moment in the movie, as Bruce defeats Cull Obsidian.

It's always interesting to see behind-the-scenes photos from movies, especially one as massive as Avengers: Infinity War. It's also amusing to hear that, even on a big-budget Marvel movie, sometimes something as simple as Styrofoam does the best job. It also shows the realities of filming a movie with such a large scope. It's hard to know if fans will see the Hulkbuster armor again in the MCU, but at least filmmakers made the most of its appearance in Avengers: Infinity War.
