The first 23 movies in the storied Marvel Cinematic Universe have come to be known as The Infinity Saga, and Marvel now reveals its official logo. In 2008, the MCU began, quickly earning acclaim with Robert Downey Jr.'s debut performance as Iron Man. At the end of that film, the most famous post-credits scene of all time informed an unsuspecting world of Nick Fury's (Samuel L. Jackson) Avengers initiative. By the time 2012's first Avengers movie rolled around, the MCU was on top of the movie landscape.

At the time of its release, many comic book fans didn't think they would ever see a movie as grand and fulfilling as The Avengers again. If only those fans had known that Marvel Studios was just getting started. The MCU has produced countless terrific films since, and even its lesser entries tend to earn a loyal following. With the recent release of Spider-Man: Far From Home though, Marvel Studios officially brought The Infinity Saga to its conclusion, along with Phase 3 of the MCU.

The Infinity Saga saw the introduction - and in some case exit - of many memorable heroes and villains to the MCU pantheon, and it's likely Phase 4 will keep up that tradition. For now though, Marvel chose to begin its Hall H panel at San Diego Comic-Con 2019 by unveiling the first official logo for The Infinity Saga, paying homage to the past before beginning discussion of the MCU's future.

While Marvel Studios would indeed go on to reveal and/or confirm all kinds of exciting movie and TV projects over the course of their panel, it's quite fitting that they chose to kick things off with a spotlight on The Infinity Saga via this new logo. Whatever wondrous heights the MCU hits going forward are only possible because of The Infinity Saga setting the table, and the work of its now departed stars like Chris Evans and RDJ.

One wonders though, if the MCU will ever be able to top, or even equal the societal ubiquity of the Avengers: Infinity War and Avengers: Endgame double shot from 2018 and 2019. Endgame now stands as the highest-grossing movie ever, and is already many fans' choice for greatest comic book film of all time. Of course, whenever the masses have started to doubt Marvel Studios, the company has somehow managed to exceed expectations. After all, a superhero team that includes a tree person, a talking raccoon, and the comedy stylings of former WWE champion Dave Bautista is now iconic worldwide. Never forget.
