A new poster for Infinity Pool shows stars Alexander Skarsgard and Mia Goth drowning. Infinity Pool is an upcoming horror film directed by Brandon Cronenberg. Brandon Cronenberg is the son of esteemed horror director David Cronenberg, known for films such as The Fly and this year’s grotesque body horror Crimes of the Future. Brandon Cronenberg has begun to follow in his father’s footsteps, making his feature debut in 2012 with the sci-fi horror film Antiviral and directing 2020’s Possessor.

As Collider reveals, Cronenberg’s next film, Infinity Pool, now has a poster. The eerie poster shows starCollider Goth and Skarsgard in a dark, black pool of water. Skarsgard appears to be drowning. Goth’s character, also mainly submerged, gives Skarsgard’s character a sideways gaze. Check out the poster below:

Mia Goth’s Rise to Horror Film Stardom

From the looks of the poster, Goth will play another unsettling character in Infinity Pool. 2022 has been a massive year for Goth. While she had been in a couple of notable horror titles before this year, including A Cure for Wellness and Luca Guadignino’s remake of Suspiria, 2022 is when many people started to recognize Goth as a breakout star. Goth acted in Ti West’s pair of horror films X and Pearl. Both films garnered Goth a fair bit of acclaim, and she showed versatility in her repertoire by playing two different characters in the film X, both with unique motivations and one of which was elderly. X and Pearl have established Goth as a modern horror icon, and by taking on this new role in Infinity Pool, Goth has further cemented her place as a mainstay within the contemporary horror genre.

What to Expect from Infinity Pool

Infinity Pool will likely give Goth another chance to show off her ability to portray the subtleties within unnerving yet complex characters. According to the early synopsis information, Infinity Pool will focus on a couple, James and Em Foster, who are enjoying a resort vacation on La Tolqa. However, their serene getaway is disrupted when a tragic accident uncovers the malice behind the resort’s tourism. Goth plays a character named Gabi, who is associated with the resort. According to the trailer, Infinity Pool will feature surrealist elements, including facial mutations. The nature of Goth’s character is slightly unclear from Infinity Pool’s trailer. Gabi appears to be affected by the disturbing action on screen, but she is also cackling while holding a shotgun.

The Infinity Pool poster leaves things ambiguous enough to keep audiences guessing. Are both characters drowning and just having different reactions to it? Will Goth’s character be the primary antagonist in Infinity Pool, or is there some evil at play more complex than this? After the events perpetuated by X’s Pearl, it would not be the first time a Goth character lured someone into a water-bound fate. However, Skarsgard meets his fate. Hopefully, Infinity Pool will feature twists and turns along the way that will keep audiences interested and keep Goth able to show off her powerful acting talents once more.
