Alexander Skarsgård will be starring in Brandon Cronenberg’s Infinity Pool. The Swedish actor has gained a number of plaudits for his television roles, including Eric in True Blood, and more recently Perry in Big Little Lies, the abusive husband of Nicole Kidman's character. Skarsgård’s performance opposite Kidman earned both actors Primetime Emmy Awards. If “Cronenberg” rings a bell, that’s because Brandon is the son of legendary body horror director David Cronenberg. Brandon has been achieving success in the sci-fi genre in his own right, with horror hits Possessor, the Andrea Riseborough-starring film which was praised for disturbing and timely observations about the world.

According to Variety, Skarsgård will be starring in Infinity Pool. There isn’t currently a lot of information about the production, but Variety reports that the studio behind Best Picture winner Parasite will executive produce. The official logline for the film teases a bumpy journey for Skarsgård and the cast: “James and Em are young, rich, in love, and on vacation. But outside of [their] hotel gates waits something much more dangerous and seductive, beyond the edge of paradise.”

Viewers will be happy to see the actor returning to sci-fi/horror after his famous role in True Blood. The actor had a triumphant turn in Godzilla vs. Kong recently, in the lead role of Monarch geologist Dr. Nathan Lind. With the Swedish actor pursuing more horror-adjacent roles, he should be assured that Infinity Pool is a step in the right direction. The Cronenbergs are notorious for their horror productions and Possessor ranks as a favorite amongst sci-fans.
