Paramount+ has debuted the final trailer for the Mark Wahlberg-led fantasy action pic Infinite, which sees the star slicing bullets with a katana. Loosely based on the 2009 novel The Reincarnationist Papers, the story centers on Wahlberg's Evan McCauley as he learns the hallucinations he's suffered from his whole life are memories of past lives and he is one of a group of people able to retain skills and memories across multiple lives. But while learning of these abilities, Evan also finds himself drawn into a centuries-long war and must fight to unblock his memory in an effort to find an artifact that could help prevent the end of the world.

Wahlberg leads an ensemble cast that also includes Chiwetel Ejiofor, Sophie Cookson, Jason Mantzoukas, Jóhannes Haukur Jóhannesson, Wallis Day, Liz Carr, Toby Jones, Dylan O'Brien, and Rupert Friend. Development on the project first began in 2017 with Antoine Fuqua signing on to direct in November 2018 and Chris Evans entering talks the following February, only to drop out due to scheduling conflicts. As with many films last year, Infinite's release was shuffled a few times until Paramount Pictures elected to skip theaters and release it directly on their streaming platform, Paramount+.

With just under a week to go until the film's debut on the streaming platform, Paramount+ has debuted the final trailer for Infinite. Offering a deeper look at the centuries-long war at the heart of its story, the new teaser also shows Wahlberg's Evan taking up the katana he's carried throughout his past lives. Check out the final trailer below:

The novel's concept of reincarnated lives and the potential of what could come with the ability to retain past memories certainly make for an interesting story as well as an ambitious big-screen franchise. While the trailer seems to indicate the story veers a bit from its source material, it does seem to promise some pulse-pounding action set pieces in its stead. Even if the film does shamelessly steal the impractical bullet-slicing swordsmanship of Deadpool 2.

Whether one appreciates or detests this scene is certainly up to one's own taste, but either way Antoine Fuqua and Wahlberg's first collaboration in nearly 15 years looks to be an enjoyable romp for audiences. Though the star may not have appreciated the sudden announcement of Infinite's streaming release, it will at least allow viewers to check out the latest Wahlberg actioner from the safety and comfort of their homes. For those who have looked forward to the film for some time, the wait is almost over as it premieres next week.
