A whopping 300+ indie games will be previewed at upcoming digital showcase event INDIE Live Expo 2021. This showcase will be connecting a wide array of indie devs with millions of viewers live across the world this weekend, making it the largest indie showcase presentation to date.

Independent games are widely viewed as the backbone of the gaming industry. In order for a game to be considered a "true" indie game, it must be developed without the financial or technical support of a large game publisher largely propping it up. Those that have these large company backings are usually known as AAA and AA titles. An indie game usually only has a small team - or even just one developer - working on it. Thanks to the freedom allotted by not being tied to larger companies, indie titles are able to explore more experimental gameplay and ideas. Most indie titles are also only available via digital distribution, with some later releasing a physical copy only after reaching a certain threshold of sales.

While the year's massive gaming event E3 2021 is gearing up for its June 12 - 15 digital event, other gaming industry giants are also taking the initiative on their own this year. According to Ryu's Office, there's plenty of information about how the INDIE Live Expo 2021 event will be run. The third-ever instance will be running ahead of E3 2021, giving a much-needed time slot to the independent games usually left out of the event. During the stream, more than 300 games will be showcased, with news and introductions for these titles from established independent studios and publishers around the world being presented.

The live stream will start dark and early on June 5 at 2 AM PDT/5 AM EDT on YouTube, Twitch, Bilibili, and Twitter. It will be going for a total of five hours, featuring game premieres, information reveals for upcoming titles and all-new gameplay footage. This year, INDIE Live Expo is sponsored by Microsoft, Sony, Cygames, and Arc System Works, all of which will be presenting indie titles during the live stream. The stream will also be broadcast in three different languages simultaneously: Japanese, Chinese, and English. Each language will have a dedicated host running viewers through the massive amount of indie titles and presentations.

INDIE Live Expo 2021's June stream not one to be missed for indie gaming fans and developers, as there's surely something for anyone's fancy among hundreds of titles. It's history in the making, and it's a wonder if 2022 will see the huge showcase topped.
